Sir Dan is back! Sir Daniel Fortesque has risen again, and not in PS All-Stars! If searching on KZbin - Caddicarus Medieval and Caddicarus Medieval 2 are the top results when it comes to talking about a MediEvil PS1 review. Or any kind of MediEvil review, thinking about it - when it comes to Caddy, at least. And now we confuse the search bots once again as we review the MediEvil remaster - MediEvil PS4 - MediEvil remake - whatever you want to call it! You can even say Medieval remaster - Medieval PS4 - Medieval remake. You do you. Even if it’s wrong. Anyway, I managed to grab an early review copy of the game thanks to PlayStation UK, and so I was able to get this game finished, scripted and reviewed RIGHT on the day it released worldwide on the PS4. Is the MediEvil remake any good at all? Could it be improved? Is the MediEvil PS4 OST an improvement? Should the whole thing be forgotten about and be thrown into a worst game remakes list? Well that’s what I hope to answer in this Caddicarus review - so sit back, relax, pick your jaw up from the floor (which Sir Daniel Fortesque clearly forgot to do) and get ready for my ultimate dive into Medieval remastered for a modern audience. Sorry, MediEvil remastered for a modern audience. The game name is clever, but wow is it impossible to make tags for the video when everyone thinks it’s called Medieval. Who cares.

Yep SPOILER You unlock the original game in the main menu and I love it. I play the german version and even there, the original ( as well as the remake) has the og german dub. The original cheats work too. My Nostalgia was overflowing.

This game has a weird nostalgia feeling for me, kinda in the same vain as Spyro. Neither my sister nor I owned the PS1 but I knew someone who did, and sometimes when I went over we would play it and it would be this one or Spyro. Something that I noticed is that they actually changed how a few bosses worked. The Pumpkin Serpent has stages, You only have one cannon in the Ghost Ship boss fight but you can aim it instead of the captain just wandering around in front of two cannons and Zarok's fight is riddled with changes that made fighting him, Kardoc and his army all the more enjoyable Edit: And after collecting all the lost souls and helping them, you get to play the 1998 version from the main menu! That's pretty cool.

Christian Klan it’s got quite a lot of problems. in medievil 2, the health springs don’t replenish, even if you are replaying the level. So if you are at the end of the game, have low health and have used every health spring, the game is unbeatable unless you use a cheat code. Also the boxing level is incredibly frustrating, it’s even worse than the boxing level from Spyro 3. Also my copy of the game had a glitch where it would only play the music from the first level, so I was stuck listening to the same music throughout the entire game.

Caddy’s critique on the art style change actually got me to do some research, and by the looks of things, the game was always supposed to be more rounded and bouncy. It’s just that the PS1 had its limitations. Keep in mind, I only *think* this is the case, as all I did was look at some of the original concept art, but if I’m correct, then that means that the PS4 version is the better one as it’s more accurate to the initial concepts. The more you know.

I 100% get your few criticisms you had with it as I have experienced them too, I do wish they kept the Tim Burton esque style from the previous game and also wish they kept the Ant caves pitch black but other than those things they were spot on with everything else and because of such the remake is going down as my favorite game of 2019. I used to play this game in the summer of '98 while I was in college. I still remember how awesome that blue sword was; you were just unstoppable.

I still have original MediEvil 1&2 which I have had since 1998. This is my favourite game even over all the modern games
