Resident Evil 1 was first released in March 1996 for the PlayStation, but known as Bio Hazard in Japan. The brainchild of Tokuro Fujiwara (famous for essentially creating survival horror with 'Sweet Home' on the Famicom, or Japanese NES) and Shinji Mikami (who also designed 'Goof Troop' on the SNES, believe it or not) - the game is often lauded as one of the greatest examples of early 3D survival horror games that Caddicarus thinks still holds up massively today. Taking major inspiration from Sweet Home and even the original Alone in the Dark on MSDOS in 1992, Resident Evil streamlined those ideas into a blockbuster easily-accessible game for the console everyone had at the time - and not only kickstarted a HUGE franchise with Resident Evil 7 being released in 2017 as the latest main entry (not including side-content such as Survivor, Outbreak, Revelations and tonnes more) - but the original game itself went on to receive 2 director's cut editions (one with dualshock compatibility and and awful OST), and also got a release on PC, Sega Saturn, Nintendo DS - and THEN got a huge remake on the Nintendo Gamecube, which THEN got a HD remaster for PS4, Xbox One and Steam many years later. Fun fact, Chris and Jill are actually the difficulty select, Jill is easy (The lockpick opens Any, and I mean any door, Her berreta deals more damage, and can hold more items than Chris) Chris is your standard resident evil Affair, (Has to find the keys to open the doors, Has to get the broken shotgun to avoid the ceiling trap, Can only hold 6 items.)

Their Old French dialect was becoming more and more distinct from it's father language of Latin. They started having weird pronunciation due sounding fancier and high class, but they were also heavily influenced by the Germanic languages due to the Normans being a Germanic people. This is the reason why the sound of French is so alien to other languages in Europe. This invasion also resulted in Old English getting fucked up and making 27-30% of the vocabulary of French origin.

This is awesome, but a quick note on Sweet Home: it was a genuinely creepy game. A lot of effort was put into it to make the atmosphere just right and the enemy sprites really are nothing to sneeze at. Besides, survival horror really was just being invented, so the creators just did what they felt would be scary. Not mad or anything, just saying that Sweet Home still deserves a lot of respect for laying the groundwork that it did. One more thing: the door-opening loading screens, extremely limited inventory, and differing endings and gameplay depending on who survives all stemmed from this game.

Barry's voice actor revealed a while ago that the reason why the voice acting was so wonky was because all of the actors had been living in Japan for upwards of a decade at the time. They had all grown so accustomed to the slightly strange, unnatural English they heard in Japan, they didn't even register that the script and delivery were strange.

Actually, from what I've heard, the DualShock version's soundtrack was the one composed by Mamoru Samuragochi and not the original version's soundtrack. I couldn't find any information on why the music was changed, but it was definitely changed for the worse.

Has anyone ever told you that ya put in a lot of details into your descriptions? I seriously never knew after many years of watching you have I scrolled down further to read your desc to see what info it had and not only are you informative in your video review but even in your desc of the video you have a lot of info in there as well not wasting one space one bit. I don't know if others don't care about it but I like that detail because that and this whole video takes effort especially with you uploading on Wednesday and Saturdays now (Although I'm sure you have a way of even making time for everything and since I've had experience making videos on my other channel I actually know what it's like which makes it crazy!) which I find to be extraordinary of you being able to keep schedule (Except with the 10 MegaMan videos but damn the wait was understandable and worth it).
