Looks like Caddx has addressed many of the problems in the V1 of the Turtle (Turtlet?) camera. New lens, added microphone, fixed board layout, fixed over sharpening. What's your opinion of these changes?

I think you are correct, the lens looks out of focus at distance. Good to seem them respond so quickly. That wonky offset hole in the board should never have made it to production.

wow, they really put in some time and work into this, good job them ! Looks like the lens is a little out of focus . But if its just that there is now "too little sharpening" , then it is as it SHOULD be , adding sharpenss in post is so much better and its 5 second job. Over sharpening is destroying so many cameras, so great to see they fixed this ! How is the input lag now ? I am still hesitant on even trying one of these cameras with the added input lag people keep talking about.

Wow stock settings are waaaaay better to me.. All very easy to fix in post. Again always easier to take away pixels then add them. Yeah just sounds like all micro hd cams to me. Like a firefly or something. Thanks Albert!

Albert Kim, great video as always, I have 2 questions, , 1, my Caddx Turtle V2 came but there is NO writing around the lens saying "turbo eye" it's just BLACK all the way around, 2, how on earth did you install the turtle V2, I'm trying to install it into a Micro with 20x20 using the standard M2 plastic standoffs, the components on the turtle V2 are so close together that none of the standoffs seat properly (dont go flush with the board) and even with a little thread out the top none of the M2 Nuts will sit flush again because the components are to close to the mounting holes, what did you use to mount it ?

No, you can't send audio to the vtx... it is recorded with the HD video

4:3 is just for the FPV feed. HD video is always 16:9. Yes, this is the new lens.

It requires 5v power so you can use a 1S battery with a step up regulator to bring the voltage up to 5v and it can work that way.

Yes 100% - it's letterboxed on my skyzone v2 with the split 2/mini and caddx v1. My monster micro and eachine 16:9 cam have no letterboxing going so it's definitely possible on my goggles :) I prefer to fly 16:9 but the letterboxing kills it for me so I rather fly 4:3 stretched then. Looks like they might have fixed it with the new firmware then, hopefully they will release an update for the v1 too then.

Albert Kim they did fix it! I got the v2 firmware from caddx for the original v1 caddx and it fixes the 16:9 view to be non-letterboxed :D Waiting for confirmation if I can share it.

I just got the Beta85x HD and the focus is all off. when I try and focus halve of the camera is in focus and the other half isn't. It's super strange, I wonder if it's a defective camera (like the sensor isn't on straight or something)

You can adjust the angle of the sensor with the screws on the back and use something to wedge in and hold the space.

My caddx v2 finally arrived, however i have a problem ... i'm installing caddx v2 on my micro quad 65mm (crazybee, brushless motors 0603 19000kv) + vtx cylops 2 The operating voltage seems stable on 5volt, but my caddx always power off by itself when i'm raising throttle :( do i have to install capasitor paralel with cam power input ... will it help ? i'm worried if my caddx had a problem

Dear Friend, I've broken my Turtle can V2 lens during my flight with T-motor 3419. I bought a new one (LS106 model). But, right now, I'm facing a problem when a I try to replace than.. The new lens (LS106) is larger than the original one (turbo eye lens as manual mentioned). Black screen no video signal. Is the camera powering up? Any lights? No lights? Camera wired up correctly? Many times people think they have the video signal but it's something else.

It seems better than V1 if you ignore the electrical noise. It's not as pixelated. However, if you want the clarity of a regular FPV camera, this is still not there yet. It may be a while before that is accomplished.

Hi, Ive got some issues You can look into :) on V1 there are also solder pads BTW :) first thing is the PAL mode. Its making a black border around the video. I hope this could get updated by caddx. Second thing is the camera bad latency on 1080P 30fps. After switching from 60fps to 30fps the stream getting to VTX is slow and for me unflyable.

Doesnt look much difference then V1. Beside the screw mount and mic, cam setting looks the same.. Like previous V1, can you share the bite rate on both 1080 30 fps and 60 fps.. recall 30 fps has higher bit rate making it clearer then 60 fps. Thanks..

The 1606 motors didn't fit. The C-Clip was too large so I went with 1408 4000kv instead.

Its the alignment of the sensor board. You just loosen it up a bit, re-align and tighten the screws.

Another question, how does it perform at night? Is it a low lux camera? The reason I ask is I'm building a quad to fly at night, and need a low Lux solution maybe to pair with a couple of IR illuminator LEDs. I'm stuck between this camera., (as caddix has some great cameras) or runcam split Mini. I have a couple of these frames below, and eventually plan to waterproof it, and mould it out of kevlar. Is there anything that can be done to improve the image quality and I don't mean the lines. I just finished adding the turtle to my Diatone Gt. Looks like the over sharpness is fixed as well as the weird green/yellow color reproduction. Looks like they setup the #7 settings as the default.

I took a close look on multiple devices. After some post processing, I think this could be pretty indistinguishable from a gopro if you don't see them side by side. Maybe the best split product yet.

The speed is insane right? I too just finished looking and comparing the caddx v1. As a viewer suggested I tested the old Split v1 lens (it's a fullsize one). fits perfect and it's sharp. most other lenses (with suiting threads) were not to be focused or way toooo narrow... check my vid later to see my comparison. and the black knight VTX - it-'s nice!

I don't think that is possible. There is no audio line that I know of from the camera board. Seems audio is only for the HD video recording and not the FPV feed.

If it were a 3-wire mic I’d try sharing the audio signal but I’m not sure how the two wire mic works. I guess I’d be safer just adding a mic direct to my vtx

Danged! There is still vignetting on the right upper and lower corners of the HD image in the widest FOV setting, just like in the previous version. Again probably due to the image sensor not being perfectly positioned on the optical axis of the lens.

Yeah, the sensor is slightly misaligned. This is a QC issues with their factory. Looks like they haven't got all the QC issues ironed out yet.

I hate you! :) Or Caddx rather :) Just finished my video where I compared the caddx orig lens with the split v1 lens - which is a way better option. Way sharper. But the good thing is: caddx seem to listen to the feedback. I heard a view comments about the missing audio (which wouldnt be a problem for me...). greets, Mario

The new lens seems to fix a lot of the weird artifacts of the old lens. They will probably send you sample soon.

It's clear to see in just the last year-and-a-half maybe 2 years, companies who listen to professional feedback consumers( can I coin that phrase?) are starting to carve themselves a niche.

Any chance you could help me out i bought a baby hawk r3 with this camera installed and i have great fpv feed but no HD recording i power it up hit the button its flashing and in my goggles it shows REC and the time of video but after the flight nothings on the card ive tested the card and on other stuff and its perfect i also tried other cards in the cam all of the class 10 any ideas would be great help thank you

Dang. I heard rumors that they were going to do a v2, but I had no idea how soon. I went ahead and bought the "v1.2" (v1 with the black PCB and solder pads) when UndergroundFPV had it on sale for $50.50. Oh well, at least I got it for a good price!
