Cadeaux at the Chateau: SPECIAL BIRTHDAY VIDEO!!!

This is the epic opening of the birthday presents that you so kindly sent! Thank you for an absolutely magical day, I'm overwhelmed by everyone's thoughtfulness and generosity.
In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to receive the beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month. For the month of July, 2020, we chose the British Heart Foundation, in memory of my father, Derek Jarvis.
I used to show the gifts as part of 'The Chateau Diaries' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new video series. Every now and then, we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖

I have two sons with terminal brain cancer but I agree with previous comments that due to Gerald's wonderful health reports he could choose a cancer organization. I think the next charity gift should be to Cancer, bc of Mommy & Gerald Living Life success. BUT‼️ Please do not give to Cancer Foundation,but a charity that helps pay Rent/Mortgage or Utilies for those fighting cancer. A great and thoughtful idea to donate the ad revenue for Cadeaux at the Chateau each week. After the donation to the British Heart Foundation is made perhaps you could randomly select a charity nominated by the viewers in the comments section each week. I've seen a few KZbinrs use this method and think it is a great way to find out about smaller charities that often get overlooked. Local charities are great because they are usually run entirely by volunteers so 100% of the donations goes straight to those in need. With larger charities the majority of donations goes towards the charity's payroll, rent and other overheads and as litte as 5% actually makes it those who need it. The gifts today were, as always, so well thought out and perfect choices. I love the Lalande viewers just as much as the residents 😘💚💛

GREAT IDEA/RESPONSE!!!! I agree 100% So many times people do not realize that if they give to large organizations (even if they are non-profit) too much of the funds go to overhead because they are SO large!!! The money could make a HUGE difference for a smaller or even local charity!

Yes, it bothers me that these larger charities top echelon seem to have huge salaries (which money would be better used for the folks it is too benefit) too. 5% is terrible so I agree. I worked for a company that processed donations and the money getting pilfered thru these larger org is baffling and sad. Yes, yes, yes, to smaller, less known charities

I agree that most funds should be used for the aims of the charity, however you have to understand that it can never be 100%. The charity's regulator puts certain obligations on charities that cost money to implement and if you do not follow the rules you are not legally eligible to raise money. I know this because I am a volunteer board director for a charity in Ireland.

miss fitz my favorite vacation ever was to Ireland last year. (and I travel alot!) Everyone was SO friendly and SO nice there! 😍🍀We stayed in County Clare and met new friends for life. A friend and I did a two week tour of France fifteen years ago. When I heard Isobelle singing "pousser, pousser" about the lady on the swing it made me remember one of the silly/naughty times of our trip. I kept seeing my friend who is a talented photographer, taking pictures of door handles through out our trip. Finally, when we were on the Champs d'elysee I asked her what was she doing and she said she was taking pictures of the pousser signs because it sounds naughty in English. I laughed so hard. Our French teacher would be so proud!

Re cancer care......our teeth suffer desperately from the chemo and lack of nutrition when we can’t eat and general treatments ongoing and certainly in Ireland dental care is astronomical. I’d love to see some monies going to that as I am struggling at the moment and just like many can’t afford to have what we need... so much. What i love is that this show is just like a beloved handmade, precious antique (in the very best way) - its all of the tiny imperfections in the hand carving of the MOST BEAUTIFUL items that Marie Antoinette owned... that your eye picks up on, that signals to your brain, that even though they are almost imperceptible, that this is hand made item of the utmost quality. Thats what i feel this show is - the most glorious handmade item.....❤❤❤
