Dreamy DIY Potting Shed Makeover

This video follows my process of turning a 100-year-old "KIT" Garage into a fully operation Garden House & Potting Shed for spring and summer gardening and plantings in 2021 and beyond. Last year in 2020 I reimagined the space as a summertime screened-in outdoor/indoor hangout spot and created the cottage style garden surrounding it, but since we have plenty of space to relax outside in other areas I thought it would be best to better our intention of thoughtfully using this space for a garden house and potting shed, plus a little space to be bug-free for relaxing and enjoying. Since there is a Cicada BroodX apocalypse happening imminently I thought it would be great to have this space completed for our general comfort and what wonderful way than being surrounded by tropical plants, blooming flowers, sculptural succulents, garden tools of delight... in an airy light white space with classic elements and cute details. By using old furniture and reclaimed decor this space's design truly feels retro but still light and airy and modern in a way. In terms of storage, I can't wait to reveal my secret built-in storage for the larger garden tools and garden machinery and the items I don't want to clutter the workspace with. I love simple garden and patio storage solutions.
Of course, as always, I used budget materials, reused plenty of everything I could, and kept this process as simple as possible within my capability of keeping things simple. I created the skylight from corrugated fiberglass panels and painted the space for days, but the result is exciting and I am totally ready to green thumb it up! Thanks for watching as always!

SO GLAD I found your video. I have been wanting to convert my 1950s detached garage to a potting shed/greenhouse and have been scouring KZbin for inspiration/tutorials. There isn't a lot out there for that type of specific space. This is a huge help and fantastic resource to help guide my own garage conversion! Gorgeous.

I was watching your video today and my granddaughters, aged 3 and 5 heard your voice and came over and climbed up on either side of me to watch the transformation of your potting shed. When you showed the first image of the finished product I gasped and said "OMG I want a shed like that" and they both burst out with "me too!!!" That was both shocking and pleasing to know that, even at that age, they can value the immense change you effected, and that your potting shed was such a beautiful place, we all want one of our own. thank you for your great videos. It's had a revolving renters door for decades (so lots of abuse). The house is pretty too, so I'm adding lots of character. Maybe no chairs and hang up some gardening tools watering can , that sort of feel. Lovely decorating job for a wannabe gardener, but way too pretty and perfect to be a practical working potting shed, either that or your no where near as potty bonkers as I am! Lol 😂 I literally have a home potting shed 4 + times that size… I have 12 x (25 to 65 ltr) bags of different potting soils, 100lt coconut coir, huge bail of sugar cane mulch, shit loads of coffee grounds I prepare continuously, crushed egg shells, strings, garden tools, big mixing tubs, 3 x different height stools to help my bad back, 12 x 15 lt bottles filled with hand collected rainwater. many fertilisers, bug sprays, 100’s pots, work bench, cupboards, a big office bookshelf / open shelving unit, upright garden cart, a flat bed trolley, a big tub gorilla wagon, a furniture trolley, 2 different size ladders, a industrial pedestal fan, etc etc etc I’m in the middle of a big clean up and reorganise before all the potting starts again 🌿😍💚

It turned out beautiful. Better than I expected. I just bought a house last year and the huge garden shed was one of the determining factors. It was a bigger disaster than yours started out, but I did a makeover on it, took me 2 months! Haha I did a lot of similar stuff you did and painted the walls white, too. It needs a new roof, so I may do what you did to let more light in. Awesome job 👏🏼

Hello gorgeous! Have you had a freak hail storm in the 2 years since you installed your fiberglass roof? Ours was demolished by hail, so we re-roofed with wood and shingles. A suggestion would be to put a layer of metal mesh over your fiberglass so that it doesn't get demolished by the weather and ruin your wonderful interior. I think that you are the male version of Linda Vater, by the way. Are you a stay-at-home-man? ; - )
