Gluing a magnet to the bottom storage bin's lid and another to where it hits the other bin may make it more accessible so you don't have to continually hold up the lid.

Hi from Sweden 🇸🇪🙋🏼♀️ Lovely video❣ "Sortera" simply means "sort". It is really fun to se how gardeners all over the world think alike. I have used theese Sortera bins for about 15 years now. Mine are 60 liters, a perfekt size for one bag of kompost. I also use the shoe racks in the same way, för carrying pots or as watering tray.
@peterhuang3482 жыл бұрын
You can try filling the pots with compost n the Sortera individually and then placing them in the seed tray. It's what I do to avoid making a mess (less soil flying around). It might be a bit slower than what you are doing currently, but not by that much.
@tubthump2 жыл бұрын
Good idea. I'd guess it would be quicker overall because of reduced clearing up time.

old trash cans are great for storing large amounts of compost, perlite, vermiculite , fine sand and other supplies. the lids s seal the contents and keep them dry. plus you can store them outside and nit use valuable shed space.. I have a couple well used dull green rubbermaid ones from before the city made the switch to uniform roll bins!

The square 4" pots are a very good idea, much easier to fit in a tray than the round pots, I think you will need a bigger bench soon! I find the big plastic cement mixing tray is very good for this job, very cheap, and it does not allow overflow. Chris B.

Thanks, your organization is an inspiration. I’ve got an oversized garage as a stand-in for a shed. The previous home owners, who built the house, were fans of huge pickup trucks and the one I’ve converted to my workspace was the one attached to the guest house. The guest house part is just slightly bigger than the guest pickup garage. Great place for my big bag of perlite. Why no rainwater for seedlings? That’s all I’m using as my rain catchment system covers a huge area and contains about 20,000 liters. I’m not supposed to use well water for agricultural purposes (although I’m not sure my greenhouse qualifies, but it was my plan on using rainwater). I’m finding out my composting worms did not compost tomato seeds, got tomatoes coming up everywhere. I’m potting them up to take to our plant swap tomorrow. I also have mint which is the weed trying to take over my greenhouse. And epazote, a Mexican herb used in stews, soups, and black beans. It has medical uses and is an anti-flatulent. I may also pot some strawberries which have come up from seeds.
@joecanales96312 жыл бұрын
Oops, sent too soon, fat fingers. I was going to add leeks to my list of plants for the plant swap. Seems if you leave the flower on the leek, it develops small plants coming from it. Once it bolts, it gets woody instead of the bulb. I’m about ready to take plants outside for my wicking beds. Got squash, tomatoes, and peppers. Also outside, my dahlias have poked out of the ground but haven’t done much as the nights have been dropping below 5C too often, but next week’s forecast looks warmer. Daytime temperature has gotten up to 20+, but nights cool off. Low humidity
