Cadet vs Compton

I was actually sort of surprised by the results. The Standard Cadet was made in 1960 and the Standard Compton was made in 1958.

I've always thought that the Comptons performed better but the Cadets have a better flush. The Cadet seems to handle "floaters" better than the Compton.

You know, I remember the very first time I ever took a standard toilet out. I messed up big time because that toilet was an inch away from the shower door, and it barely missed the shower door and any new toilet that I put in could not do it, so I had to find one of them, and it took me forever😂

Great test! Both are good toilets. I had a 1951 Compton installed for a year and then a 46/ 48 mismatch cadet for a couple years. They both were equally reliable, though neither one was totally clog free. I prefer the quicker flush on the Compton. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the bowl is so shallow in the front that often times you end up touching it, lol. My Cadet always flushed foam in one flush after a cleaning. I can't remember how the Compton did on foam but it was generally good.

That was a great series of tests. My preference is the Compton, for a variety of reasons. I like the fact that it did better on the clog tests as well as the mulch test. However, the Cadet is still a great toilet. I have a mid '50's Cadet that needs to be retested this year and a 1950 Compton. The Compton functioned better in actual use, although it sometimes spit back paper, which hovered around the trapway opening like the mulch did. Nice work on your part!

My late 80s Kohler Barrington has toilet paper hovering around the opening all the time and requires two flushes, no idea why. Even a tiny amount of toilet paper could get that to happen.

Many of the track houses in Pacoima, California had Compton toilets in them in the 1960s. The on;ly time they clogged at my house at that time, was when the tree roots would get this in the outlet sewer of the house. Otherwise, they worked excellent.
