The much-anticipated day has finally arrived. As their training culminates and they receive their badges, the Cadets of CTC I-22 reflect on their unforgettable time at the Academy. They will now begin their new journeys, as officers on the road, serving the people of California. Plus, an update on Cadet Lopez sheds some light on her future.

Most likely, Officer Lopez returned to training almost immediately. The academy has three training classes at any given time. In the event a cadet fails out during training, they have the opportunity to rejoin with a junior class.

When I went through I believe the Commissioner pinned all our badges on on the stage. I know I asked if my father, an LAPD officer, could do it and was told only a CHP officer could do it at that time. With the number of cadets they are graduating I imagine it takes too long for the Commissioner to pin everybody.

That has now changed. Before only uniformed members could pin the badge on a new graduate, now it has been opened to close family and friends.
