I watched this series the whole way through and thought of my own experience going through my police academy. Every comment these cadets made about the stress, the hardship, the fears are all very real. Those of you who are thinking of becoming a law enforcement officer be it a Sheriff, Police or CHP you have to want it and sacrifice and keep telling yourself you can do this. So…GO DO IT!

Most likely, Officer Lopez returned to training almost immediately. The academy has three training classes at any given time. In the event a cadet fails out during training, they have the opportunity to rejoin with a junior class.

When I went through I believe the Commissioner pinned all our badges on on the stage. I know I asked if my father, an LAPD officer, could do it and was told only a CHP officer could do it at that time. With the number of cadets they are graduating I imagine it takes too long for the Commissioner to pin everybody.

That has now changed. Before only uniformed members could pin the badge on a new graduate, now it has been opened to close family and friends.
