I have one and I can’t believe the traction. I live in Quebec where 40 Cm of snow is regular in winter. I never shovel. I’m in love with that car. No winter tires and still handles like a dream.

I know this video is 2 years old but I'm really enjoying the series! I love my '16 ATS 2.0T. Here in southern Kansas we don't get enough snow to make winter tires worth the expense (IMO) and mine is RWD only. I run Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires year round and, when we do get that occasional 2-inch snow, my ATS struggles a bit, especially when taking off from a stop and even in Snow Mode (which starts in 2nd gear). Just shows you how AWD and a good set of winter tires can transform a vehicle! Thanks for the video and keep 'em coming!

Very beautiful scenary and just a fabulous video to watch! I moved from NY down to a beautiful area right on a lake in Georgia not far from the North Georgia Blue Ridge mountains... We don't see much snow in these parts like we did in NY, but all I have to do is drive up to the mountains if it's raining anywhere from 33-39 degrees in my town. 90% of the time it's snowing in the 2-4k foot higher elevation in the mountains. My town is 1,200 feet above sea level. I drive up all the time, but during the winter I love going up there when I miss seeing the snow lol. I've taken my modified '15 Infiniti Q50 3.7 Premium RWD up there and it went well even without the AWD option because of my Blizzack WS80 snow tires I use in January and February. Traction also improved once I had the aftermarket WaveTrac limited slip diff. installed in my Q. I make sure my 20 gallon fuel tank is full for extra weight over the rear wheels and she's good to go. I will make videos if it next winter. We're already having 80+ degree days here in GA. Anyway, I also have a 2017 Buick Envision 2.0T AWD. Of course the AWD Envision is much better in the snow, but I was impressed by my Q50. She's making 375 HP now with the mods. Both are fun cars. I love the ATS too. Sorry for the long comment. Take care, -Chris

To be able to stop on an incline and only have a slight bit of slippage, it definitely has great traction. I stopped at my mailbox at the end of my driveway tonight (my driveway has an upward incline) I only made it half way up and had to back up and take a run at it to get up the hill. I only have front wheel drive on my Honda Accord.

I just bought a XTS AWD with OEM tires in Toronto wonder if OEM tires would fare well couples with AWD or would I need to get winter tires
@sstressfl5 жыл бұрын
Shahid Husain when I lived in Michigan, I never bought winter tires. Lots of snow but the terrain was pretty flat, and the road crews cleared it very quickly. But here in VT, the road crews are great but it’s very hilly and much of it is dirt roads which means there is always a layer of snow and ice present. It’s the most extreme terrain I’ve ever lived in. No matter where you live, winter tires are safer in the snow... but you’ll have to consider Toronto’s terrain and road crew (and your budget) to determine if you think you can live without them.

@@sstressfl My current car is a Chrysler 300 C is a RWD and in winter it is the worst car ever. Very unstable You would see Honda Civic's zipping along and here I was sliding all over even though I did have winter tires. This is why when I got the XTS I made sure it was an AWD . The question is since the XTS is an AWD do I still need winter tires?
@sstressfl5 жыл бұрын
Shahid Husain yes of course I understand. Snow tires will always be better and safer in snowy winter driving conditions. But if you live in a very flat area with very good road clearing crews you can probably live with out them. Especially since the xts has awd. It’ll be substantially better than your current car. But it’ll be even better with snow tires. I hope that helps 👍🙏
@ninoshahid5 жыл бұрын
@@sstressfl Thank you. I think RWD are generally not good in winter/snowy/icy conditions so I will start out with the AWD/All weather tires and if I find it is not working out then get winter tires.

Gary L. I bought it with 17k on the odometer and it had the original Michelin run-flat tires. They were almost bald. Since winter arrived, I replaced them with studded snow tires (Imperial Eco North) mounted on the stock 17” Cadillac wheels. I plan to buy a second set of wheels to mount a new set of summer wheels in the Spring.

Brandon Dwight I’ve had a lot of cars. It’s my favorite. The best balanced car I’ve ever owned. Handling. Traction. The 2.0t is so fun with loads of low and midrange power which is perfect for a street car. Make sure you shop a 2015 or newer. The ‘13 & ‘14 models had issues which were fixed in the 15. Why is ground clearance an issue and who said that? I never heard about it.First you say it’s a problem as we all know then two mins later you admit you cannot for nd any data . You are are full of BS.
@sstressfl6 жыл бұрын
Hi! I can understand why you're confused. I have spent the better part of my life lowering cars 1.2 to 2". But I lived in flat places that were mostly filled with flat paved roads. Ground clearance is an issue with this car only because I live in rural Vermont on a dirt road, in the mountains, with long harsh cold winters. Let me explain... a large frozen chunk of ice in the middle of the road can rip the nose cone off this car. A frozen center channel in the road can tear into its belly pan. If the snow gets too deep the car will float off the ground allowing the wheels to spin - which means no more forward momentum. Dirt roads can get crowned in the middle. That crown can impact the underbody and cause serious damage. In the Spring, mud season can create quicksand like mud that can swallow a car - in some places you'll find mud ruts so deep only the most aggressive 4x4s can pass through. This car is vulnerable because as I mentioned in an earlier video, it can't even clear a mound of fresh horse poop without making contact. At it's lowest point, it's probably only 5 inches off the ground. I only mentioned data because I thought it was curious that I could not find an official measurement on the internet. Regardless of the official number, it's self-evident that the car is very low to the ground. Which is a very very good thing when it comes to handling. And potentially a very very bad thing because I'm driving it in rural VT - it could get stuck/damaged/broke/bent/dented etc. I hope that helps! Peace!
