IF you are doing this job its always wise to take out the fill plug first. if you have an issue getting the fill plug out at least you havent drained your fluid yet.

Nice vid, Netflix! I'll be attempting to change my diff fluids very soon. Question; have you had a chance to check out the bolts that connect the rear driveshaft to the transfer case flange yet? Apparently, GM used bolts that are weak by design and they shear off under normal use. All 6 of mine sheared off and I had the fun experience of a catastrophic failure when the driveshaft spun out of the transfer flange. The original bolts are threaded all the way to the bolt head. The redesigned bolts have about a 1/4 inch shoulder between the head and where the threads start. I would recommend taking one of the bolts out of yours just to verify which bolts you have and changing them before they start shearing. It took me 3 weeks to get it squared away, but I did. The other nightmare job I just finished was replacing the thermostat. Wow... lol! But I'm whole again so now it's just a matter of doing what I can to prevent things from happening. Mine is a 2013 CTS4 3.0 with 118k miles. Best to you, and thanks for sharing the video and links! Mike

Hey thanks for your feedback and comment, really appreciate this. No I have not looked at my drive shaft bolts. Now that you say that, makes me extremely worried and happy at the same time hahaha. Maybe we will post a video changing those bolts out, thanks for the heads up. Well done with the thermostat, not too sure if the LY7 engine is similar to your LLT or LFX. I’ll probably look at changing mine anyways soon also cause I’m unsure of the previous maintenance and be nice to get some fresh coolant in there. Please keep following our channel Mike, really appreciate your comment.

I hear a grinding noise from the left rear when I turn does that mean I need new fluid or does it mean it’s something else?

Too hard to know with actually looking at the vehicle. But sounds like maybe you have a bad wheel bearing. Jack up the rear and spin your wheels and listen for grinding. Shake the wheels up and down and feel for play.

Have you ever done the x pipe? I was curious on the same thing with mine, and since I got it on 4 jackstands all torn apart with the transmission and transfer case pulled out due to stiped output/input shafts I was really curious.

Sorry not yet, life has been crazy. Looking at getting it in soon, as well as a wide band oxygen sensors with a air fuel gauge. We will try as soon as possible.

Hey, I have the same car and these are great vids. Where in BC are you located? Did you ever modify the exhaust?
@Netfixandbuild4 жыл бұрын
Hey, we are in Campbell River on Vancouver Island. We have not yet touched the exhaust. The summer set us back a little bit. But very soon we will be doing that and I will also be installing a wide band o2 sensor with AFR gauge at the same time. For a more accurate location in the exhaust for tuning.
