Hi, I’m a beginner in Civil3D and I’m trying to insert points using .txt file as well. After I imported, I tried to process linework but the lines don’t show up. Hi I'm a civil engineering student on my third year and we have this project to do a survey and create a topographic map.. Our professor actually wants us to plot it manually but I want to try doing it in civil 3d. The data that we got from the survey was the Azimuth, distance and the vertical angle. We've actually computed for the elevation but I was wondering if you could help me get the northing and easting from my data. Thank you :)

The answer is yes, you can have separate files for what you are trying to do. You can have a file for surfaces (existing or proposed) profiles, alignments, and so on. From there if you need to reference them you can create a data shortcut and reference. For points though (in the context of the video) you cannot create data shortcuts but instead you can create an XREF for it. In practicality you would never reference points though.
