This is actual DIY . A lot of stuff is not DIY but rather done by professionals with whole workshops( Not throwing shade, they do pretty good work just saying thats not DIY) . This is real DIY. Thank you for making this video

I agree!!! I don't have much power tools so I get discouraged thinking that I will not be able to do it just because I can't afford to buy it which is why I'm doing a DIY.
@Mel-qr5ob2 жыл бұрын
Same. Lots of "DIY" tutorials now are using table saws, so you need to splash a bit of cash before you even pay for materials, plus dedicate a garage/shed space to your projects. It changes from "DIY" to "hobbyist" projects at that point in my opinion. You can get simple electric tools like drills or jigsaws at decent prices, but once you start getting into table saws, mitre saws and routers... nope.

DIY = do it yourself , don`t buy the final product. The process of doing it is diy, doesn`t matter what tools you use. There are a lot of Pro`s using only hand tools, does that qualify them as diyers?
@Foxy_rin2 жыл бұрын
@@nZebco diy does mean do it yourself, yes. But it's meant for your average person that doesn't specify in that craft, tutorial would be a better word for it.

Someone told me once that when guys make a DIY video, they try to impress you with how clever they are. When women make a DIY video, they actually tell you how to f***ing do it! Nowhere is this more true than in couch videos!

I've been watching a lot of dit videos lately and the rule seems to be guys want to show of their massive workshop. Which is kind of annoying when they label their videos with "for beginners" or "simple furniture for little money"

It's honestly not as easy as it looks...I've tried and have succeeded with a couple, but it only works if you have the money for the right materials. Cutting up an old memory foam mattress is the easiest cheapest way to go. And it's only this simple if you have a good sewing machine and know how to sew, which I don't so I used lots of staples instead and stapled and glued my mattress foam to the plywood I had. That worked, but you need the space to do it too, which is more than you'd think. Just spreading out the fabric to measure took up my entire living room with the furniture I do have all shoved over to one side of the house. If you don't have the 5-10 yards of upholstery fabric laying around,(hahhaa) already, that can get very expensive, along with the draco batting material you need to upholster it all. Using my entire living room for even 2 days straight to do this project isnt easy. Even my decent size living room floor wasn't really enough space to do this sorta project. But when your broke and have least half these materials to use, it's definitely worth it to build yourself and can't afford to buy anything new and have a specific idea design you want.

Awesome job!!!! $350 is a great price for a custom sofa that is the exact length, depth, and height that you need. You definitely splurged on the legs, but spending $100 on the fabric was brilliant. I had a couch like that once and as you sit on it the bottom gradually slides forward und the cushion at the back falls off. If you put the whole thing on a frame with a back the cushion at the bottom will still tend to slide forward off the frame - unless you build a little sil in the front so that it can't slide off - that might work.
