@luvtorekord Hi Brad, This is Zach-- Pat's friend-- who's rack rig you made sing so beautifully. Thanks so much for demoing it for everyone to enjoy. I really Enjoy your playing.

@kezz87 This is Brad, I am the performer in this clip.... The tone emanating from this rig was even better than what you're hearing (believe it or not!) but MentoneMan masterfully captured the tone!! He's DEFINITELY the man!! Had I known we would have received this many hits I would have used my own guitar as I know it so much better than the one I was using but, any way you slice it, it was an honor to be a part of this!

@mocamaiu Yes, 1210 chorus + modulated delay from the 2290. Not a preamp, rather the amp heads (1 of 4). Each selected one at a time and the selected amp (via the amp selector) drives a dry cabinet, and has a line level which incorporates the preamp and power amp section of the head and drives the "wet" side of the rig, which then is fed to a stereo power amp, and then runs the wet cabinets.

Thanks... I have no experience w/ TC Electronic's novadynamics, but I've been a user and fan of the 2290 since 1987, and really do love their products.

I do use the Dyna Comp on gainy lead tones (sometimes) as well as clean lead tones and rhythms. The Rocktron 300G rack compressor is mainly used to even out signal going to the processors. Don't remember if the Dyna Comp was on during the Landau stuff

The rig is set up to switch as wanted. I have it on for some dirty stuff, but usually not. There are actually 2 compressors in the rig an MXR Dyna Comp (placed in front of whichever of 4 amps is selected) and a Rocktron 300G which is a rack mounted compressor which is setup mainly to level out signal before it gets to the processors in the stereeo section of the rig.

you have a crazy amount of awesome gear, of course everyone's jealous. You definately deserve it too, you're a great, inventive player. Best Wishes to you as well.

It's an Odessey Werk Light. LED, light, so no heat or hum... When you power it on, it strobes the different colors. It just wasn't set to be a solid color in the video. It's used for a dual purpose-- to provide light to see the rack in the dark, and as a spacer to provide ventilation to some of the gear. I actually have 2 of them now. The shorter one on the top of the rack, under the Furman, is also a power conditioner, as well as a light

it's 3 mics running into a small mixer, 2 akg 451s for wets and a 57 for dry, then to the camera, which unfortunately has pretty low quality audio converters.

Yes. It's a Rocktron Egnater TOL100. Bruce does make tasty amps. The full rig is a multi-amplifier rig, run w/d/w

The project consisted of several things: Custom building components, modifying components, wiring the rig. Built the Custom Switcher, modified my Amp Selector new chassis, Custom made line mixer, Double Expanded RS10, some hardware (pedal tray, MIDI Thru box, multi outlet strip for all the amps to plug in), pedal power supply, dual tap tempo for the 2290 and H8000FW, ALL the cables including the snake from the pedal board to the rack interface. The WHOLE thing was near the cost of 2 Diezel VH4's

@checkie4ever the crate is just power for one side of the wet cabs..i ran it in mono/bridged to a EV 1x12, and the other wet cab wast a crate 60 watt combo and i ran the signal into the return of the fx loop...i find the wet cabs are OK to be solid state power driven and 1x12s, but the middle dry benefits from tube power and 4x12 tone.

@locoboxspaceship Literally the amount of sounds in this rig are enormous. The Eventide H8000FW, which isn't in THIS demo, does reside in the rack permanently and it alone has 1600 factory presets. Having a great rig doesn't guarantee great results, it only presents you with options. It's up to the player to dial in the right sound scape for the occasion. ;)
@zachman515012 жыл бұрын
Aloha Brad, Hope all is well. Sorry it took so long to see your comment. The rig is doing great. I've done several large concerts with it, and it's worked like a CHAMP every time. I plan to add a Dytronics Tri-Stereo Chorus this summer, replace the Lexicon with a PCM81 and possibly alter a pedal or two, possibly switch the Rocktron Compressor for a DBX (Undecided).

the distortion sound is real throaty, fat and defined. yet it sounds clean, doesn't sound like he's playing with a lot of distortion, probably the combination of a great amp and a great guitarist!

There are a couple of versions of the OD100 that vary a bit in price. You can contact him or John Suhr via their e-mail for direct info. RE: the RS10 vs the GCP yes, similar to GCP but depending on the kind of info you're storing, you have more flexibility w/ the RS10.

Hi Jonny, Re: the cost of my gear: I have been accumulating it over many years, and didn't pay retail for most of it-- Though gigging and rentals has paid for it all. If you're interested in pricing out what a system like this would run you, perhaps checking recent ebay "sold" items for similar gear will give you a realistic ball park idea.

Looks like a TC2290 delay. At one point in time, sort of more or less the world standard for studio delay rack units. Still hold up even today, but you can get the same results from a G Major 2, or well, Axe FX, etc.
@zachman51507 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a 2290. Sorry, G-Major, Nor Axe-FX (Yes, I've used both) quite do it. But I agree, Both are decent units

In Landau's hands there is no such thing as anything other than GREAT!!!! One of my favorite things about this particular rig is that you aren't limited to the core amp tones... Want something different, just plug in a different amp, and there it is.

EVERYTHING mentoneman said, is definitely true. I would simply add that-- I find that having a specific target of what kind of sounds, and control you require from your gear-- best be clear in your mind-- before you start with a single purchase. By dong this your purchases can be mad wisely and strategically toward the final target's completion. (Saves a lot of time and money)
