This is all about OKST and recruiting. Everything else is secondary.

How about if we have the College Football Championship in August, then play the regular season games?

I think the purpose of the Black Knight is a competitive public setting to hold your wrestle-offs more than anything else

I think this Duals event is all the idea of Mr. Moneybags at Okie St. First, they brought in David Taylor at $1 million a yr for 7 yrs, and regular annual increase, I believe 30K. OK, now, how do we get Penn State on the schedule AND wrestle them every year AND have it as a HOME match AND do it in a way that Penn State (i.e. Cael) would look foolish for not participating AND prove to the highest rated recruit in the country that Okie St is the place the be (the timing is not to be overlooked here). Can we do all this and make it look like it's for the benefit of the sport of Wrestling? Why, let's offer a money prize package with the top 4 teams taking away the majority of the money. We know they could really use it! You know, to help grow the sport.

I think the student aspect of student athletes is very important to Coach Sanderson, he mentioned about final tests in some of the winter tournament interviews, maybe the added tournament in November is not worth the added strain on the mid-term tests,,, even with NIL or other perks the vast majority of NCAA wrestlers are needing to rely on the degrees they earn during their college career

Why would you want to add more matches for your wrestlers to possibly get injured before the tournament that actually matters

I think the problem is it is too early! If it was held middle of December it would be much better!

Teams are buying players to beat Penn state

What they are not talking about is the number of additional matches this will add to the total schedule and the impact on classwork for the wrestlers. Let's get the details please.

We already have a national duals tournament. It takes place over 6 weeks from January to mid February. It's a round robin format. It's called the Big Ten regular season. David Taylor needs it because he wants to wrestle as many B1G schools as possible. It helps his recruiting. For Big Ten teams it's redundant. 3 of 4 semi finals teams every year would be Big Ten teams and I'd bet those three teams would be the same nearly every year.

I hope they do opt out of it, we are forgetting these are student athletes, with multiple national duals, a already long season, why burn out your guys when you don't need to.

Tournaments like this generate interest to the sport. Interest creates revenue not just for schools anymore but the wrestlers thanks to NIL. Penn St opting out hurts their wrestlers more than the program at this time.

Penn state is the best team so if your going to start a tournament like that it should start at Penn state like any sport you've earned the right for home field advantage and change every year to who. Ever wins that year

Or it's in the Midwest where it's easier for most schools to go to vs going across the country

I agree. Our best wrestler ever seems to only care about his guys and not the overall growth of the sport. Not that he’s any different from a lot of other coaches in that regard. But! He’s the GOAT.
