I still think it's fairly ironic. Caesars first words were "NO" in a way to stand against the oppression and show bravery and leadership. Fear and bravery is what builds those two characters as who they are.

@huntercool2232 Жыл бұрын
It’s always been strange to me how it seems that only after Koba found out humans were still alive he seemingly descended back into madness. Like he seemed to be genuinely loyal to Caesar and saw him like a brother and was even a good friend to his son. We saw him grow to love Caesar and was very happy living in the village with his fellow apes. It’s like when he saw humans again his past came back to haunt him and he wanted to get rid of it once and for all and in doing so lost everything he had gained which was a family. He did things I don’t think he would’ve ever done if he hadn’t found out about the humans. His hatred for things done to him in the past was greater than the love he had gained in the future which is quite sad to see. Very amazing story writing and character development.
@alexandernickaboine4798 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's just unfortunate that Koba never got to experience humans the way Caesar had. Caesar had been raised with love and compassion by humans so he got to see the very great qualities they have. Everything about them that Koba saw was them experimenting on him, most likely hurting and abusing him for so long until Caesar freed him from his cage. So it's understandable that when Koba comes across humans in Dawn, his experiences with them overrided all of the good things that had happened to him, there was likely not much that could've been done for him at that point aside from this outcome. He makes for a great antagonist.

Koba was only loyal to Caesar because their interests aligned. However, he thought Caesar was soft on humans. He thought Caesar let them off easy. They may have tortured him but it didn't justify his cruelty, his betrayal, his willingness to sacrifice many apes to satisfy his vendetta, and killing and imprisoning apes loyal to caesar.

The irony about Koba’s death is that he died the exact same way Jacobs did in Rise. In the first movie we see Jacobs hanging on for dear life and pleading for Caesar to save him while Caesar looks down upon him in judgement and deems him unworthy of being saved for everything he has done. He then gave Koba permission to do what he wanted to Jacobs and Koba chose revenge and killed him. Now we see the exact same scenario in Dawn except it is now Koba who is holding on for dear life and pleading for Caesar to save him while Caesar looks down upon him in judgment and Caesar deems Koba unworthy of being saved for everything he has done. Really demonstrates what you give is what you get and in Koba’s case he was treated no different.

I like how Caesar takes no pleasure at all in having to let Kobo fall to his death - after the fall, you can see him looking up almost somewhat saddened and regretful by the fact it had come to this. Even before, he did reach to pull him up, only to reconsider when he realized the enormity of what had just transpired after seeing his injured friend Maurice... he also knew what was expected of him as the leader. Although to be fair, having Koba actually locked up in a cage by his own kind would have probably been even worse of a fate for Koba, so he might be better off dead.

koba said it as a manipulation tactic so Caesar lifts him up which would allow Koba to possible knock him off and kill him. It's not bad dialogue but actually smart

I think Ceasar was even willing to allow bygones be bygones of Koba didn’t involve the others. But when he starred shooting at the other apes, that’s when he made his critical decision.

I think by the time Koba shot Caesar and burned down their home, he very much wanted to kill Koba. You could argue deep down Caesar wanted to kill Koba all the way back when he beat the shit out of Koba after he mocked him and started a fight. If he didn't stop himself from strangulating Koba and did indeed kill him, the war against humans never would've started. But Caesar doesn't believe in killing unless its in self-defence, so he let him go. By this point though, he was too far gone. He had to go. If he was left alive, he would lead the apes to unending warfare and eventual extinction. It wasn't about Caesar anymore, it was about the future of the apes. Ultimately Koba started the war he wanted, and in death, he became far more powerful than anyone could possibly imagine. In the end, the apes survived, the humans went extinct and Caesar is dead. Koba is the victor of the PotA series. He accomplished all of his goals, from beyond the grave.

Personally, I feel like Caesar tried to find a way to settle this without having to kill his once loyal companion, but it was when he saw him firing at his fellow apes in blind rage that he realized that his former friendd was lost beyond hope and that taking him out was the only way.

I feel bad for koba. He absolutely got what he deserved though. To clarify, ceasar was absolutely right, koba was the least ape like ape in the series. In truth koba was the most like humans, the very thing he saw to destroy. Koba speaks the most fluently, is the first to use human tools, hes extremely proficient with them as well, he uses others words and morals to survive, and is willing to push down others for his own gain. Whats even sadder is that koba isnt only different from the other apes in the movie, but also different from his own species inate temperment. Bonobos are extremely well tempered apes and compared to chimps are quite kind. They arent as aggressive and tend to solve issues without killing wach other. This is because chimps live in a resource difficient area while bonobos live in a resource abbundant area. Chimps also eat more meat than bonobos. In contrast, koba is hyper aggressive to the point hes a dictator. Koba is basically a puzzle piece that cant fit in any spot. Koba is too human for apes. Koba is too much of an ape to be a human. Koba is too chimp like to be a bonobo. Hes just, alone. The tests, the abuse, the trauma, it cut him into something which was self destructive and violently aggressive, willing to burn everything down to rule the ashes. But he could have been more than that. We see koba being extremely loyal and brotherly to ceasar, he loved him like family, he was happy and kind. Then the humans came back. That trauma came back. And he couldnt escape it. Ceasar was wrong, koba didnt belong in a cage, he never left it. When given the opportunity to, he chose to stay. And for that he died. A sad, miserable, angry being.

Koba believes Caesar is weak because he is unwilling to fight the humans. When in reality it makes Caesar a very wise leader. A good leader evaluates a situation and looks at all the alternatives and only chooses to fight if there is no other way. If you rush blindly into battle (like Koba) then you loose lives on both sides, which is what happened when Koba took over. Apes lost their lives to a war that could’ve been avoided if Koba hadn’t struck first. This is what Caesar was trying to tell Koba, if peace is an option than a good leader searches for it. War isn’t pretty and anyone who rushes blindly into it is a fool. Koba could have let go of his hatred, but instead he let rage guide him and let his past determine his fate.

I find it interesting when Koba is shooting aimlessly at all the apes, he is alone, cornered, TRAPPED. Sounds familiar right? And when he spraying them with bullets, it’s irrational and it’s like he’s reliving his trauma, lashing out against the people who basically were hurting him with their experiments

The only fate that would have been even more horrible for Koba in place of his death, is Caesar takes him to the humans and reveals that Koba is the one that attacked them and he is responsible for all of the damage done and their friends now lost. To which Caesar then asks that Koba be locked up in a cage for the rest of his life constantly guarded by humans.

Koba is one of the best film villains, but in this fight with Caesar to see who rules the apes. Koba signs his own death warrant as it were, as he was blinded by his own hatred for humans, as he was mistreated by humans. Killing humans and also Apes who disagreed with what he was doing (Ash’s death being the most notable). Made the others follow him through fear alone and obedience to him without question was his downfall. Granted his reasons for his hatred for humans was understandable, but he came so consumed by it, that nothing else mattered. Try to use Caesar’s own words to try and save his own life, made Caesar realise that Koba had gone too far in what he had done in trying to kill humans and his fellow Apes who disagreed with him. It ultimately costs Koba his life in the end.
