If you are looking for an excellent approach to the BMW R100, or to any other model from the 'R' series, the project in this video is really a very good example.
This is the work, of David Widmann, Kurt Kosjek, and Manuel Tilke.
They are the Crew of the "National Custom Tech", located in Austria.

Balance is truly the word that defines this project. An R 100 is and will be an R 100 where you look, the details will come to light, so the care in small things should be extreme, which at first glance seem not to be seen, be unnoticed, but deep in our mind, connected with the attentive look, leaps into view like flashes. I mean the wheels in black but with a discreet and wonderful golden that imposes you to look, and in doing so you see then that the inverted suspension is a success. The motorcycle looks like the start of a race at the beginning of the 20th century, but also in the near future. A single word that defines it: Perfection

My friend, “balance” is the word that I chose early in the video! Excellent description. As I have said many times, the BMW, in general, is not my favorite machine for conversion. However, your diligent work in displaying these meticulous works of art has slowly over the course of time changed my opinion. Officially, I no longer look at these BMW machines as, let’s say, “tractors” or utility vehicles of the transportation world. The BMW is a very tough, durable, and an efficient machine. Until now, I’ve never really viewed these early or any of the flat twin models as ‘sporting’ capable. Thank you for RacerTV, the Café Racer’s best viewing channel.

Boa noite! Eu gostei muito da moto e tenho que concordar: ela transmite força! O projeto nao deixa dúvidas quanto ao "espírito" da máquina. Devo confessar que, para mim, o banco estilo Bobber ficou perfeito. Eu só teria uma observação a fazer: a saída do escapamento está muito proxima do banco. No calor do Rio de Janeiro seria torturante.... De resto, uma moto fantástica!!!!

RACER TV , hoje no Rio bateu 37 graus. Fizemos um passeio de 80 km e o meu dilema é sempre o mesmo: casaco de cordura para proteger do sol e de eventual queda, quase desidratando; ou camisa de malha e muito protetor solar... Em geral banco o uso do casaco e encaro o calor, mas hoje não deu. Estava tão quente, que pegar a chuva tipica de verão no final da tarde foi uma bênção. É dura a vida do motociclista no verão do Rio de Janeiro....

Em relação à voz do Narrador, lá terei que o chocar um pouco. :) A voz na grande maioria meus videos não é minha nem de ninguém, mas sim gerada por computador. De qualquer forma, Se não sabia deste ultimo facto, só significa que esta voz "róbotica" é mesmo muito boa para qualquer pessoa que não fale Inglês diariamente. À excepção dos Ingleses e Americanos, toda a gente acha que esta voz é mesmo real. Já agora, aproveito para dizer que sou Português. Em relação à royal enfield continental GT 650, ainda não sei nada sobre ela, mas se o motor tiver 2 cilindros e um preço competitivo, será sem duvida uma boa aposta :) Mais uma vez obrigado pelas simpáticas palavras de apoio. Esta voz é a voz robótica mais próxima da realidade que ja ouvi, sendo que apenas um nativo norte-americano ou inglês pode identificar que é artificial. Referente às Royal, lhe perguntei porque ja estou tendo umas ideias bem malignas de customização assim que eu pegar uma. Sim, elas tem um motor com 2 cilindros e geram 27 cavalos. Felizmente, a nova GT é do tamanho da thruxton, não tao pequena como a GT 535. Interesting looking bike. Although, I wonder how that rear shock would fair. Being mounted off center and only one side. The mounting points for the rear shock do not look to be strengthened. Would it stand up to the use and abuse of a rider ?

To be honest, i think that everything is ok, because the shock is mounted on the original place of the factory stock BMW R100. Cheers.

Thanks. I know that the battery is inside the original airbox filter, which is located inside the rear/top of the engine. The electrics is probably under the fuel tank as usual. Cheers.

I'm not sure bout that rear spring ( offset suspension) seems like it would be partial to right hand turns but would loosen up on lefties lol not to mention if that was a single sided swingarm I saw because this just looks and seems ( theoretically) that it would be loose or sloppy due to excessive travel during weight disposition or shift during the lean but hell BMW is about the pinnacle of handling corners in terms of street bikes so maybe not an issue though it sure looks sketchy ( cool) but interesting none the less lol

@@RACER_TV I have a project XS650 build currently underway also. The engine is completely done 700cc with high performance cam, pistons and carbs,. The rolling chassis is in the mock up stage with new 18 inch professionally laced wheels front and back with a custom swing arm. I’m using Moto gadget m-unit blue electronics, speedometer, lighting, etc. can’t wait to see both projects completed!

Every time you review a non proprer cafe racer you try to justify why you reviewed it anyway, trust me, we don't care we are here for tastefully modified mostly old bikes. The point point to cafe racers was, strip the bike of everything unecessary to go faster, today we don't need to strip a bike to make it fast they are already fast from the factory. Today the cafe racer trend is more about balance and simplicity visually speaking, the problem with that is if, people focus on "the perfect cafe racer" there would be no difference in different projects. So don't worry about being a strictly cafe racer channel, I'm sure other styles will be welcome

Olá amigo. Aqui vai uma resposta que já escrevi a alguém que me perguntou sobre a situação das Inspecções a motas. A questão da legalidade será sempre algo difícil de compatibilizar com as cafe racers. Tudo depende também to tipo de projecto Café Racer que se pretende. Sinceramente, acredito que se uma mota cafe racer tiver todos os farois, espelhos, piscas, guarda lamas, e um escape que não seja livre, não vejo quaisquer razões para haver problemas quer com a policia quer nas Futuras inspecções periódicas. E esta ultima será também a grande questão. Acho que é perfeitamente possível passar 1 cafe racer na inspecção, mas na maioria dos casos, será necessário alterar pelo menos os escapes e guarda-lamas espelho. Por isso é que recomendo sempre guardar as peças originais da mota, e utilizá-las só para passar na inspecção, ou para uma futura reconstrução para o estado original. Penso que ainda não saiu nada sobre o regulamento para as inspecções, mas se for semelhante ao das inspecções dos automóveis, a coisa não é assim tão difícil como a maioria das pessoas pensam. Temos que lembrar que uma inspecção periódica obrigatória, tem como objectivo verificar apenas os pontos base de segurança, tais como pneus,travões luzes, suspensão, gases de escape. Tudo o que for acima disso, já está enquadrado na homologação dos veículos, ou seja, só numa inspecção 'B' é que poderão eventualmente "pegar" pela falta da "originalidade" dos veículos. Mas mesmo assim, não acredito que os inspectores tenham acesso a esse tipo de informações detalhadas, muito menos quando se trata de motas mais antigas. De qualquer forma, não vejo razões para preocupação, já que só temos de garantir que a mota tem o mínimo de condições para passar na inspecção periódica, ou seja, pneus,travões, luzes, suspensão, e gases/ruído de escape. Roy Rodriguez body position is a very big factor in clasifying a motorcycle. the hunched position and the clip ons determine that this bike is a cafe racer.

I like it but my but is too big for that tiny almost no seat. Plus that exhaust pipe is too close. It should come out from head, go down and cross over at pan bolt level and continue straight back and turn slightly out when at rear of engine. And should contain NO baffles or mufflers and be 2" diameter.

I have never disagreed but in this case I do see imbalance. Too much on the front, too little on the rear. Plus knobbly tires have obviousely no place on this beautiful creation. In my humble opinion, I see imbalance. Thank you as always.

Unfortunately, things are more complicated than most people may think. I use this "robotic" voice created by software, because I'm Portuguese, and my bad English accent (and voice), can ruin the documentary character that I like for my videos. I already tried a real British voice in one of my videos, and, surprisingly, almost everyone hated it. Curiously, the robotic voice sounds realy very good for to non-English natives. :) Cheers.
