A couple of years ago I stopped drinking coffee cold turkey. I drank about 3-4 per day in the office. The symptoms were so severe that I had to go on sick leave from work for almost 2 weeks. The first 3-4 days were horrible, throwing up, extreme headaches, pain everywhere in my body, especially in my lower back.after almost 2 weeks went back to work and never touched coffee again. Best decision in my life.

@@noracoyle4988 Having quit both (I was a light smoker but a heavy coffee drinker, 3 or up to 5 cups a day) I'd say the mental cravings for cigarettes were much bigger. But with caffeine I had more physical symptoms: I was quite sleepy and also had a lot of joint/muscle pains for some reason. On the other hand, with caffeine the cravings were almost non-existent compared to how much I wanted nicotine after stopping consumption. I almost had a curious approach to the caffeine withdrawals: did it really have this big an impact? How?? Going by dictionary definitions, I'd say I was dependent but not addicted to caffeine. With nicotine it was both. Anyways, good luck to you! if you managed to quit smoking, caffeine should be easy

I found so many articles saying only drink coffee in the morning to prevent hindering your sleep. But for some like me, even a little bit in the morning negatively affects my deep REM sleep. I recently gave up coffee and my sleep is improved, my mood is better, acid reflux went away, my energy is more consistent throughout the day and my hip pain went away.

@@Tabui26I want to know the truth rather I like it or not.I drink 3 cups of coffee from morning to noon.I've tried to beat it but have failed. My self-discipline is weak pertaining to caffeine.Otherwise I eat healthy, excercise, and sleep.Sleep for the most part anywhere from 7-9 hrs.Yet doesn't feel resortive.I always wake up feeling tired and feel fatigued later in the day.Even on Saturdays. So it's not merely I don't look forward to working or a mindset thing because weekends I have free time to do whatever I want but still feel foggy. How could caffeine be negatively affecting me or is it something I shouldn't worry about?

I had severe shoulder and back pain for about 15 years. I've been through lots of treatments. Of those, only one guy told me about coffee, but I didn't take him very seriously. Then I've reduced the coffee intake dramatically, to one or two times a week, only one cup each day. The pain is gone. I read the book, and it really helped. Just a piece of advice for those of you in the same situation.

On day 3 without caffeine. I’ve noticed an improvement in sleep, anxiety, and energy since day 1. Day 1 was harder because I was having headaches, but I took some ibuprofen. I’ve also noticed a difference in my skin!

I'm on the tail end of day 2. literally 24 hours after no caffeine, I started developing a headache no matter how much water I was consuming. My diet isn't necessarily the best, either with fatty with little to no sugar.

It’s crazy that it can take 2-3 weeks for stress hormones to normalize . I don’t drink caffeine daily but I know if I do that night I don’t sleep the next day I am anxious and it takes about 2-3 days to chill out again ! It’s wild I never would have thought

The central nervous system, the brain, the liver, the blood vessels from hands and feet are compromised and working at unnatural rates. This is the really scary thing. I can think of how going away from this life-threatening caffeine could beatify my internal experience as well as appearance. I want to know what I would supposedly feel like if my diet was supportive rather than compulsive, dangerous, and risky. PLUS OSTEOPEROSIS. NO WONDER MY BENCH PRESS MAX IS 1 PLATE.

idk... pretty much everywhere I go the caffeine content is listed unless it's actual coffee in which case there's literally no way to tell because it varies so much from one bean to another so the best they can do is estimate... pretty much anyone can see that 1 cup = 6 oz and then extrapolate to how much they actually consume. but I guess I'm coming at this from an educated point of view forgetting that the average person does not even think to look such things up. Idk. this book might be good for some people but for someone already aware of some extremely basic things, the book makes some really eye-rolling points and has weak rhetoric. like you grandma could have told you it would interfere with sleep and if you know anything about sleep it should be obvious that it's bad. also the idea of keeping coffee to the morning thing is advice as old as age itself. I just don't know who is so disconnected from this kind of thing that they need this book. you guys are... wow. i mean I'm amazed that this isn't common knowledge. you have one cup of coffee or tea in the morning or no more than 100mg and you'll be fine and can forget about this overly-editorialized bore of a book.
