Their music is great, some of their videos too, some other are creepy, weird and it doesn't matter, but I would really like a philosophical, almost spiritual video for this song, nothing extravagant. But honestly, whatever they would create for this wonderful song, the resulting video would be forgiven and even appreciated, they are so talented

Lyrics Wake up, say a little prayer Out of bed to the bathroom where I take a look at myself and I stop and stare And I wonder who is this standing here And I try to find the will to carry on Wonder how much longer I can carry on Cause these days they take so long, yes they do Hey, how are you true? The light will guide you home, yes it will Hey, how are you true? Well there's one thing that you should know Yes you should You need love, you need love, you need love You need love All your days spend countin' numbers 'Til one day you'll find, day you'll find That life has passed you by And in the quiet still of silence try to hide your eyes Oh no so don't cry, oh no Hey, how are you true? The light will guide you home, yes it will Oh the years, they turn so fast Soon the present will be past and you'll look back and laugh Yes you will Well I can still remember, yes I was a young man too Alone, but not forgotten and the candle shining through Still all these words I've spoken don't mean anything at all Without love, without love, without love Without love Do, do, do, oh yeah Do, do, do, oh yeah I remember clearly we were both there on the airplane Told me all your secrets, oh I never saw it coming I thought that you were joking You were actually quite serious

It's been 3 years since I've first hear this song and at the same time my mental health got bad and in these three years no one has ever asked me "how are you true?". I lost myself and all my happiness and no one ever cared or noticed. In these three years I met new people and still no one ever asked me how I really am. So, no one knows.

Both strange and interesting, I shall think that people in troubles end up listening this sort of music. In 2016 was the first time I listened to this song, and 'oh what a bad and rare year' I thought that it had been for me, only broken dreams. In perspective, it was not as terrible, I can even enjoy its memories with a glass of red wine, and these songs. Hope you are OK right now, but tell me, how are you true? The entire world seems to have fallen into pieces during last weeks, isn't it? Best wishes and I hope we all survive

My gf is suicidal. When I first heard this song it made me think of her... I want her to find a will to live, it hurts me because she doesn't want to. She has bad days and good days and so do I. I cry, sing and play her this song :/ I think I'm the light that will guide her home. I didn't think she was really really serious. I hope 20 years will pass and I can see her look back and laugh. I love her and it hurts to love her, she loves me too. I know we all suffer. I ask her to make me a promise not to do anything every week just to see were she's at, it doesn't help that I screw up a lot. True had a secret he was suicidal too. "I remember clearly, we were both there on the airplane. told me all your secrets you were actually quite serious" "coming back from New York to Nashville and there was this young kid, super flustered, on the [airplane’s] jet bridge. The flight attendant asked him if he was going to Nashville to get a record deal and he was like, “No, my label is sending me to rehab.” He was kind of playing into the rock ‘n’ roll persona and I thought, “Oh no…” But I felt drawn to him; I had this feeling that I was supposed to talk to this kid. Low and behold, we get on the airplane and he’s sitting right beside me. We started talking and he just kind of tells me his story - it was pretty heavy. I was really moved. And then it turned out his name was True, which I couldn’t believe"

Sofia Patrício Ok the song How Are You true" Was originally on the album melophobia... That was released by Cage the Elephant in 2013... But was cutt and replaced by the song -cigarette Daydream, How I know what songs they will be singing at their concerts... Is I am still subscribed to their fan base... That gives you access to touring information... Discounts on concerts things like that! Pretty much all bands have fan base description... For about 10$ a month....

This song is always so though for me hear. I can't help but cry, i have never been to a psycologist because..i don't know, i never had the oportunity because in my country mental health is kinda expensive. But i do think that i have some sourd of anxiety or overthinking problem, there is not a single day i don't ask myself if i'm happy or if i'm doing what i really want to, and everytime i hear this song it just explotes in me, specially when it says "that life have passed you by", all that bridge have always been just so strong for me, ALWAYS, and i know this song since the day it went out in the album. Now that i am independent and have the great luck of having a salary, i think i will invest more in my mental health and this song made me realize that it is necessary. I love cage the elephant, it is my favourite band and i hope i can see them on concert one day.

First time hearing this song, after looking a few cage tracks for anout s year slowly adding. Cigarette daydreams is the one that speaks to me of my childhood being abused and trafficked, and alone, and feeling like I'd never get to see the world. This song...speaks to me now, feeling so unsure, and wanting the light to be there, wanting to be loved and not alone. The whole song had me in years, but the end part...I've never told anybody my full story, not even my ex fiancee. But it made me think of her heartbreak and disbelief when I started telling her about the abuse, it took me 7 years to tell her even the mildest end, and we just finished at 9 years in. Because although she'll always love me, we just don't work any more because I'm so broken, so torn up. And the worst part is my first love, my boyfriend from the bad days, who was also a victim. We were supposed to be together but we got found after trying to run away, so we never saw each other again. I know he's alive, but I can't speak to him yet 💔 Life is so cruel, this song reminds me of the hurt but in a beautiful and validating way. Thanks Cage the Elephant for your beautiful music as always.
