Marty I've been playing guitar my whole life and I can honestly say I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am now if it weren't for you. I've been watching your videos since 2010 (when you used to record in front of that red curtain!) and in that time youve helped me learn everything from beginner 4 chord songs to guitar solos that I still rock to this day. I really appreciate everything you've done and I just want to say thank you for being the best teacher on youtube

Thank you so much Marty!! The Caged system is finally starting to make sense to me!! Your channel is the best! You are a blessing to us newbies! I can’t afford lessons and I’m playing on a $70. This video really unlocks a lot of potential. Watch this multiple times, rewind and play along. It will really lift you off that plateau. This is fundamental guitar that comes often too late for us self/youtube taught players. This one will really open things up for you if you understand what Marty is laying down. It will greatly improve your playing. It not only lets you know where the same chords are up the neck, it will help you quickly move to a different pentatonic box/formation seamlessly.

Marty, I remember getting my first guitar at 14 and watching your first tutorials on KZbin in the early 2000s. Got frustrated and it sat in my closet for 15 years. Never played it. Last year, I randomly picked up the guitar, started finger style guitar and bought two new guitars. I’ve consistently played them daily since last December and my first strat is coming on Monday. Can’t wait to go through your videos to play electric guitar.

Nice job explaining the caged system. Every guitar player needs to know this. Once players know how to find a root note on the E and A strings plus knowing how to use the information with the caged system. .. really opens up the fretboard. Thanks Marty.

Have to go back again to see how you played the Cmaj in the G position. Also, it looked liked you were playing most/all of your notes/arpeggio's around the high strings. e,b,g. Spent short time on those chords. Having said whatever I just did, I've been studying " caged is so easy vids", a light has FINALLY come on. Very low watts, but encouraging non the less. That full G chord barred can take a hike. Been playing Barre chords forever, which I hope help. Long time Box player back in the 80's. Repeating, Thanks man, I may have something !!!!!

This reminds me of tutoring math in college. One time I was working with this girl and I was getting frustrated, I just couldn't understand how she couldn't understand what we were looking at. I puked away and started thinking happy thoughts to maintain my outer composure and suddenly I remembered having to get extra help with whatever math we were working on...back when I learned it! So the good news is that some day, I'll understand this. The bad news is that, that day isn't today.

What is the point Marty? It makes absolutely no sense. I'll study the neck and make my own system. I've already begun by making a diagram of the neck with all the notes on it. I see patterns already. Now I'll play the notes until I become more familiar with each tone. Then I'll play 2 notes at a time, 3 notes (triads to form a chords, and their inversions) 4 note chords, and 5 note chords. Flats, Sharps, Major, Minor, 7th, 9th, 13th, augmented and diminished. THERE! Now all I need is Marty so I can learn to play everything fluently. LoL
