Really informative, thanks John. Great to know that SWM are still making bikes at the original Aermacchi factory.

Glad you enjoyed it. I have since been told that it’s not the original factory. But near by.

owned a 1984 Cagiva 125, no power valve. Made HP like a light switch.... Owned 3 cagiva 500's. They didn't have that problem. And a Moto Morini 501 Camel. A nice dual sport V twin. You don't see many V Twin dual sports.

I started watching and had to go straight to the comments to see what people said about this. I remember reading in Dirt Bike (or maybe Dirt Rider) magazine "say CAH GEE VAH" (or something very close to that). Funny what sticks in your brain

Bought a cagiva 500 desert racer brand new from a dealer in Wiltshire England in late 70s early 80s cant remember exactly. Was a great bike really fast but not fierce, suspension was a bit wishy washy broke 2 kickstart levers on it they were Micky mouse things dealer wouldn't replace them after the second one broke hadn't had the bike for six weeks at the time. Went practising at Elsworth Cambridgeshire on route a mate rang us and said Dave Thorpe was there testing we thought he was lying, got to the park ferme no big motorhome with Dave Thorpe written all over it so we called him a lying barstuard. Turned out he was there in a Ford P100 pickup with Dickie dye he was riding a kx 500, came walking over checking the bike out said they were really fast as he had raced against them in Europe Great champion and really down to earth guy.

Interesting history. More interesting is KTM's recent buying into MV Agusta. Do they drag out the Cagiva brand again? Probably not since they buried Husaberg, I would guess. MVA could probably use some financial stability and development resources, too

@@mohba01Yes I know, I went there in july 1984 to visit the Cagiva plant, eat at the plant restaurant and visit the racing department. We saw the 500 GP of Marco Luchinelli, the prototype of the Ligier/Cagiva 750 Paris Dakar and saw Giacomo Agostini Yamaha GP team manager at that time coming to visit his friends and in the racing department there was the famous mecanic Alberto Milani former MV Agusta official rider. When we went ot we just jumped into the racing dust bins and I got and still have a wrongly machined magnesuim fork clamp.
