It would be fantastic to get a full-scale replica of Cahokia, or another major fortified Mississippian settlement built, complete with living history exhibits a la Plimoth Plantation or Colonial Williamsburg. So many people are under the impression that American-Indians all lived in small villages of tipis and wigwams, when in reality there were major walled towns and monumental earthworks.

Ohio too has fragments of earthworks, mounds, connecting roadways, etc that since the time of the Englishmen Squires&Davis first mapped them in the early 1800's have largely been destroyed in modern times, much to our loss.

Sorry for the interruption to the regular PROGRAMMING. By the grace of Yahweh/God. They are aztec temples, temples of Sol and Moon, temples of SOLOMON... temple of the SOUL-OF-MEN T'Ameri Mahi is the ancient name for North America, it translates to Mexicos America... Mari-a, Mary the mother of the Mehi/mesi/messiah. Maryland the land of love. Yahweh / Yahawa created the heavens, and the T'Amari/ Virgin Goddess, and then somewhere along the 6 days of creation he gave T'amari/Virgin Mari-a her Mehi / Mesi / Messiah / mexi-khan children, born to a virgin mother T'Amari our beloved mother earth. South America was known as T'Amari Amaruucapana. T'amari was a dual goddes with two sides, north and south. The temples of Sun/Sol and Moon are just the temple of SOLOMON, we find them in Mexico City, Yucatan and in Peru. The story of the Aztec/Mexica promised land is the same as the stroy of exodus, with a parting of a red sea and every thing... this why the MEHI are so hated and deported from there own land ISRAEL is Mexicos America...T'Amari Mehi

One almost can't help to see a relation between this project and the pyramids of Mexico. Trading routes, maybe, but there would almost have to be a greater influence than some itinerant traders telling people about what they'd seen and then these people just deciding to undertake something of this scale. Of course, there's been a massive earthen pyramid discovered in the Balkans. I suspect the ancient world was vaster and more complex with more global connections than we give it credit for today. In any event, this is a fascinating and magnificent native civilization.

First domestic plants were not the corn in North America. The corn arrived here but a newer type corn could produce which gave seeds in autumn. The new plant the autumn corn was the cause to increase some settlents to be towns as Cahokia. The North American domesticated 4 main plants: marshelder (Iva annua), chenopod (Chenopodium berlandieri), squash (Cucurbita pepo), and sunflower (Helianthus annuus). The old Central american originated corn was not good for cultivation in North American climate, when the new version mild climate corn evolved from the Central American corn this type corn could give bigger harvest as the first domesticated plants.

Cahokia, the center of a great society, houses as far as the eye could see, the seat of power for 700 years, whose king controled "immeasurable wealth", could feed over 20,000 people and have a surplus! (6:01) I'm sorry, was that 20 thousand? Today we call that a small town, barely more than a back water village. What am I missing? If that's the best the tribes of the central states could do, it's nothing to be particularly proud of. Somebody missed a couple of decimal points.

You’re not supposed to notice things like that. Or the lack of animal domestication. Or writing. Or slavery. Or the wheel. Or the human sacrifice. FYI, to the above butthurt respondent, during the 2nd century CE, the city of Rome had more than one million inhabitants.

Richard Blankenship That was actually quite unique for the time. It is the center of a grand militaristic trading empire, which gave it a population boom as more and more were absorbed. Think China today.

The video is in awe of a society that can feed 20,000 people, when the Mayans and Aztecs of the same period were feeding millions, and building tens of thousands of cut stone buildings all over Central America. The mathematical, archeological, and religious understanding of Central and South America are still in astounding existence. All North America has to show

Cahokia was historically begun around 600 AD, not at 1050 AD when the Mississipian culture took over. And that is according to *our* records- meaning theory, not fact.
