Thank you Bernard, you've helped me understand the scripture so much better. I have been struggling to read Genesis and the earlier books of the Bible because of the rich early history it describes. The way you have described the story helps me to understand why Cain was rejected by the Lord.

Sadly Bernie passed away last year. God rest his soul.
@mikeyg1444 жыл бұрын
@@tygutowski Thank you for letting me know this. Bernie taught me that there is still hope for us: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 "But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord." So I have faith that his soul will be risen again to be with Jesus, since Jesus has Risen. Until then, I pray that God will rest his soul and watch over us in the days to come. Keep the good faith my friend, AMEN!

6:11 How did Cain build a city if he was a wanderer?
@jstewart7773 жыл бұрын
He lived for hundreds of years, had no video games or social media to distract him and wandered heaps before building. His children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and so on would have all built the city with him. @Sunjin Kim the bibles stories are original, here's why, in the bible Adam was the first man, and he had a lot of descendents (as talked about in this video), eventually Noah was born and (I'm sure you've heard the story) in God's eyes, all of Adam's descendents were not fit to live, except Noah, so he killed all the other descendents, see, the people in the middle east who made these "previous" stories came after Noah not before, that's why the bibles stories are original, or, at least the one's before Noah

The reason why Abel's sacrifice was accepted is because of the "blood" - only the death of a living creature would suffice to cover Adam's sin; a look forward to Jesus Christ's sacrifice for mankind. Cain's offering wasn't accepted because it was the "works" of his hands; farming. Grace saves and works leads to the law and bondage......same today; GRACE !
@in_vas_por88104 жыл бұрын
Or perhaps Cain's "hard work" wasn't as hard as he thought. So in a sense, you are right, but it is not the literal sacrifice of blood from a living being God wanted. It is your "blood, sweat, and tears". The story is a metaphor. Cain was upset at the nature of reality(and the one who created it) so he questioned God, and God corrects him in a way by saying: maybe it's your own fault that things are not going the way you expect. Cain can't get past this, does something completely stupid out of spite(like many other humans do), and there you have it.
@launiemartin4 жыл бұрын
@@in_vas_por8810 ..good point. To add: perhaps God didnt accept Cain's work is because God already provided everything Cain worked for; God created all fruit, veg, food; and Cain thought he could out do what God had already provided. Abel on the other hand offered back to God what was already there....hard to explain.
@in_vas_por88104 жыл бұрын
@@launiemartin I see what you mean. The biggest thing that I've learned from the story is that God(constantly) watches how hard we work, and the level of sacrifice we are willing to commit. Some people misinterpret this and think that God wants literal sacrifices, and thats how you get messed up stuff like human/blood sacrifices to "the gods". I believe it is more like: you need to give up things that you love and are holding onto, like an ex, a hobby (thats holding you back), mindless partying instead of studying, etc... You have to be willing to endure a bit of "suffering" in order to make great progress in the world. God cannot be outsmarted, and he knew Cain wasn't putting in enough effort. You could argue too that Abel's sacrifices hurt more because he loved the animals, so thats why his sacrifices held more value than Abel's. Once again, more of a metaphor for us, rather than to be taken literally.

Cains sacrifice was not accepted because without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. Adam and Eve covered themselves with fig leaves. God covered them with animal skins implying the first blood shed for covering the shame of sin.

The story reminds me Ramsey the bastard son of the Bolton family his mother gave birth to a child that had big chance to become air (because ramsey was a bastard son).And got him angry and then he killed his father with a knife and his mother with the Child by the strong tought dogs(its from game of thrones).
@in_vas_por88104 жыл бұрын
It is very similar, but Cain killed Abel to get back at the "father", aka God. Ramsey's motives were purely self serving, in the sense that he wanted power/wealth and no opposition to that power/wealth. He did more than just kill his own brother, he killed everyone who could oppose him. But yes, very similar overall.

I dont like the habit to sacrifise an animal . What kind of a God is that
@2noobzvstheworld54 жыл бұрын
Christians believe in a just God. Because He is just, He can't just sweep sin underneath the rug and say "eh, it was only a small sin, no big deal". Someone has to pay for it. So throughout the Old Testament people had to sacrifice an animal to pay in their place. The other option, besides allowing sacrificed animals to be the payment for our sins, would be to instantly kill every human as soon as he/she committed a sin. But because of God's love and grace, he chose the former for our good. But in the beginning of the New Testament (also known as the Gospel), God sends His son, Jesus, to live a perfect, sinless life, and to die on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice, and it means that we no longer have to sacrifice animals. In Ephesians it says: "But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you have been saved - and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus." I hope this answers your question :)

He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
