I am curious isn't the Lii W15 a DVC.. From the looks you have only one set of the voice coils active. Maybe I don't see the jumper in this video. If you haven't hooked up the second set of VC's it will sound even better. So I would run it in series and make it 8 ohms which would be a better load for the amp as well. I apologize if I missed the jumper wire.

How do you do that? Is it a special method that you are referring to?

What is the subwoofer amp called? And where did you buy it?

Hey Daniel, Great videos. I have an Aretha and I am also about to build and open baffle setup. Why do you tend to lean towards the Fast-8 and not the Fast-10? On the lii audio website they show the Liionidas Open Baffle setup with the Fast 10 and W-15, which is similar to the Pureaudio Duet15 setup. Have you heard the F10 with the W-15?
@drde40102 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I’ve not heard the F10’s yet but I’d have no doubt they’d be a wonderful selection!

Thanks for the video. I have a question. How can the sub produce any audible bass at all given how narrow the baffle is? Specifically, I'm talking about front/rear wave cancellation as a 100 Hz wavelength is 11.3 feet long, and a 50 Hz wave twice that length.
@drde40102 жыл бұрын
Randy at Caintuck would probably know best. The driver stats are on Lii’s website and it has a very large magnet and foam outer ring. It produces astonishing bass!

@@drde4010 I visited Lii's website previously, so I'm aware of the potency of the W-15 driver. I ask because I'm thinking about a project in the mid-term using two panels each with a Fast-8 and W-15. My working theory about the wavelengths is that the W-15s are close enough to the rear wall that the rear wave sums with the front for full output.

Personally I think you have a great idea in mind. I can’t imagine it being anything but good.

How far do you have to be away from The front wall with this particular sub? I’d love to purchase this for my horns.
@drde40102 жыл бұрын
We were never given any specific instructions as to how far it needed to be from the wall. From our experiences we’ve always had it in the right corner about 4 ft away with excellent results. I’m going to post another video in a moment in a different room. Results were also excellent.

Thanks for your insight. So you didn't use a crossover for the fast8 and the f18?
@drde4010 Жыл бұрын
No crossovers thanks for commenting
@krischanrudolph6005 Жыл бұрын
@@drde4010 ok thank you. As you are using the w15 now with it. Do you think the two w15 could substitute the two 18s? Meaning just the fast8 and the w15 in one baffle?
@hoobsgroove2 жыл бұрын
get a piezo tweeter epoxy resin it to the baffle reverse the phase of the wires and feed it back into the power amplifier input from the amplifier, give you a servo assisted.
@drde40102 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard about reversing it. I’ll give that a look. Thanks
@hoobsgroove2 жыл бұрын
@@drde4010 yes you need opposite phase on the piezo tweeters to counteract the phase of the main woofer.
@gilberthardy80022 жыл бұрын
did you build a cross over for the mains could you show them if you did?
@drde40102 жыл бұрын
Just the crossover you see in the video.
@dragonflyfab97032 жыл бұрын
Legacy speakers put the woofer drectly behind the bass driver, both on open baffles. I wonder why.
@drde40102 жыл бұрын
My guess is because it generates a tremendous amount of bass, so it may not necessarily need to be placed directly up front.
