Cairo as you have never seen it | CITY of the DEAD 🇪🇬 vA 12

First I explore the Southern part of the city of the dead, in Cairo, in Egypt. The city of the dead is a cemetery where the living and the dead live together. Then I go to the nearby Friday souk El Gomaa. The souk is really fascinating, bustling with people, and full of all sorts of animals. In the souk, I find some sheep head for breakfast.
Then I keep exploring the souk, before finishing the video by going back to the heart of the city of the dead.

I am from Egypt and I am happy that you spent your time in real Egyptian places, restaurants, and markets. You have even eaten meals some of us have never tried. I hope my country understands tourists like you who don't want to spend their time in luxury hotels, having fancy meals, watching spectacular shows. Most of us belong to the middle class and have your own burdensome outgoings, and want to relax and recharge your energy on a budget. Tourism is about bridging gaps between nations and an opportunity to dislodge fallacies and parochialism. All the best in every endeavour and journey you seek to.

I am Egyptian, but I have never visited this area. I felt a bit afraid when I saw your video. There are some places that are difficult for tourists to visit, although many Egyptians are very friendly, but there are some areas that are famous for the presence of swindlers and some annoying and thieves in them, like any country in the world, there are also some areas that are characterized by randomness, but I see that you enjoyed your tour in that simple popular area. My advice to you is that when you visit some of these popular areas, take an Egyptian friend who has knowledge of those areas so that no one disturbs you. Egyptians are generally friendly and friendly, and they love visitors in all cities of Egypt, but you should also be careful

Additional information, these types of existing pigeons are the rarest pigeons in the world, which were painted on Egyptian temples and fly at high altitudes when they fly, you see them as small as a star, and this is the most expensive pigeon in the world and does not exist outside Egypt, and many exhibitions are held for it abroad

Very interesting , Yves, and impressive! Very grave to walk there, most locals wouldn’t. Most locals would be afraid, as there is a saga or old urban legend of ghosts etc. The people who live there are impoverished who went there since the 70s. They were part of population booming and lack of resources with poverty. Sarcastically, these mausoleums are very historic, they vine from the mamluke period. It was called desert of Mamelukes, which is a cemetery basically. It was a desert until the the 70s. That market is typicallly famous for selling exotic animals and pets. The other name for it is the Tunisian market or souq el tounsi

Yves, one humble piece of advice for you whenever you visit such an old cemetery...please stand there for two or three minutes in silence and say a short prayer for the dead. Such an act is commendable because, among the many dead, there could be pious individuals who deserve prayers. From my own experience, I always have a very nice feeling visiting the cemeteries and saying a short prayer for the dead. You could say the prayers in any language you know. You could be the only stranger there and very likely your prayers will be answered, God-willing. God bless you and make your journey safe. Amen!

knowing almost half Egyptians are under poverty rate (living on $2.16 per day) its common to see people living in cemeteries and yes they live there (not work), After all a country with same situation of poverty usually have much much higher crime rates specially in big cities, Egyptians are sincere and hard working people and can do any work to survive and feed their families.

It is actually a street full of a big number of Syrian shops mainly for Syrian food and pastry and Egyptians like very much the Syrian food especially the Shawarma and Kunafah. Many Tv channels made reports about this Syrian small city located in 6 October city.

I have to explain things for culture , we majority of egyptians forbidden religiously to allow foreginers to video our dead tombs and that is clever from you to make it really and smart . Egypt like any country in the world have poor rural places and very modern places . The good thing about your video you focus on simple life street people , you don't go splendid or choose luxury hotels or resorts . Very hectic city. I would think you can only take so many hours a day in the middle of it all.

Did you get in a fight Sir ? I hope you are ok . You really like going into deep diving in a country.. That is also a very historical grave site not just rich people.. very historical people. I hope you enjoyed your tour of Egypt. I love that you are eating things not knowing what this is 😂 anyway those are the lungs , the throat and the pancreas.

Is there a video of you in more modern areas in cairo cuz foreigners will get the false impression that all cairo is old ?

Modern areas are the same everywhere in the world, they have no interest. I don't travel to see the exact same thing everywhere I go.

@@KinoYves I totally agree with you but, there are a lot of racist comments that think all of Egypt is just poor and old I wish you delete those comments ❤
