The City of the Dead (al-Qarafa) is a 4-mile-long series of Islamic-era cemeteries in Cairo, Egypt. An estimated half a million people live here - their homes in and among historic cemeteries and tombs, some well over a thousand years old.
Though the area (also called Cairo Necropolis, or al-Qarafa in Arabic) is known as a slum, the residents are living in an open-air history museum. It's one of those places in the world that you can't quite believe exists.
In this video, we explore the incredible architecture of the neighborhood, interact with friendly locals, and are even invited inside a local home for a cool surprise.

We hope you enjoyed getting an inside look at The City of the Dead in Cairo! We're still blown away by how friendly everyone we encountered was. And this is our first ever non-food video! What do you think? Should we make more like these? Let us know in the comments below! 👇

The bag of food the girl gave u called "rahma" is an egyptian tradition people of Egypt do since the ancient egyptians, the tradition is simply food people make when they go to visit the tombs of their dead relatives .. they pack food in small bags and give it to random people around the graveyard , they do this because they believe it would help the dead in the after life as when u get the bag u would be thankful and say a prayer for the dead which would help them in the afterlife.

I agree with you on Lenza, but I unironically think that Dottie is a Sagittarius.
