@MrsCarolynRoth Lol aww. Did he offend you? Cummon Mrs. Carolyn, every New Yorker knows the subway sucks there, that ain't anything new.
@Gventures28 күн бұрын
@MrsCarolynRoth You shouldn't take personal offense to it, he's not insulting you, and you didn't built the NYC metro. It's old and everybody knows it. He simply said he lives in NYC and is jealous of the subway in Cairo. That's where he is, that's what he rides every day, and then he sees this, so that's what he thinks of. That is perfectly fine to say. I think it's rude of you to say "move, NYC won't miss you" just because he is stating he is envious of the condition of a metro system in another city or country.
@Gventures28 күн бұрын
@MrsCarolynRoth Lol oh wow. It's not anti-American for someone to say something negative but true about the subway system in NYC lady. Calm down, jeez. It's called freedom of speech
@Gventures27 күн бұрын
@MrsCarolynRoth Mrs. Carolyn! So rude! And who is "you people?" Are you referring to me? Because I didn't make any comparisons, I am just commenting because I see you being rude to another commenter on my channel for no apparent reason. And his comment wasn't a malicious comparison, and was clearly done out of familiarity and nothing more. It's one sentence "As a NYC subway rider I’m jealous of how clean, safe & affordable it is." If he wanted to paint a bad picture of the NYC metro and truly compare, it would have probably looked something more like this... "Wow, this train system is leagues better than the NYC subway system. First, it clearly seems to be running on time, which the NYC metro often does not. It's also clean and spacious, which unfortunately the NYC metro is seriously lacking. I also did not notice any mentally unstable people, another unfortunate circumstance that plagues the metro system here in NYC....." I could go on. THAT is a comparison, Mrs. Carolyn. I hope you see the difference. His comment was simple and innocent and only stating that he rides the NYC metro and is envious of another. Totally acceptable! Try not to get your feathers ruffled so easily, it's not a happy way to live your life. Just sayin'

You did a great explanation to the metro system in Egypt. One note, all stations on the third "green" line have elevators and almost all stations on the second "red" line have them as well and of course the LRT and as for the first "Blue" line I don't think it does because it is the oldest one from the 80's and 90's but "some" of its stations have them. Ps. at the sec line you have to look for where the elevator is because for some reason most of the time you feel like they are hidden, lol.

It’s such an informative video, I do live in Downtown Cairo, and it’s safe to say that this mode of transportation has helped me get to many places. Without complimenting that much it’s the best, however the oldest lines (line 1 & line 2) should be more organized. You didn’t mention that you could use metro to get to a place from which you could take Uber to reach your destination. I mean, metro could at least take you to the nearest place from which you can go to your main destination. Fun fact, since I was in Alexandria recently, they are considering building metro there, and it’s expected to be open in 2026. The metro there will be on the ground, unlike the one in Cairo which is both on and under the ground. Metro there is under construction, that’s all I know from people living in Alexandria. I hope you enjoy your time in Egypt. If you don’t mind meeting in real life, let me know. (I usually don’t ask for anyone to meet me in real life, yet if you don’t mind, let me know)
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
Yeah that's right, I didn't mention that you could take an Uber once outside the metro, but I didn't mention that because I thought that would be fairly obvious and didn't need mentioning. As I did mention, the green line is the newest of the 3, so yes it's the best line out of the 3, I agree. I've heard from people they were building a new metro in Alexandria, which is nice to hear. Perhaps I will make a video about that in the future once it is finished. But most of my videos are filmed in Cairo, since I live here and not in Alex. And thank you, I have been having a great time in Egypt! I've been living here for almost 3 years now, and will of course continue to live here as I love it 🥰🙏

The green line 3 is wheelchair accessible on most stations! :)
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
Really?! I'll be honest, I'm not on the green line (or the metro in general) that often, since I am usually riding my motorcycle. When you say some stations are wheelchair accessible, what do you mean? Are there elevators going from the street level down to the subway, or just a ramp next to the stairs, or what? And you say some stations are accessible, but others are not? So I suppose it will be a bit of a guessing game for the person with the disability whether they can get out of that station or not on the green line...
@mam181815 ай бұрын
Best way to answer your questions is a second visit to Cairo Metro stations new and old and ask for the elevator ,, you shall get an answer ,, 😊😊
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
@@mam18181 Well I think I got enough information from the comments, to be honest 😅But I think my real point here is, if I am a tourist in a wheelchair visiting Cairo, I cannot wheel myself down the stairs to ask someone that works there if there is an elevator, which would leave me sitting on the street in my wheelchair forced to ask anyone passing by. And in the areas that many tourists frequent (downtown Cairo for example - Sadat station), there does not seem to be any elevators. Beyond that, the fact that some stations have elevators and others do not, and that the stations that do have them are not so easy or obvious to find, would already make the metro more challenging and inconvenient, or make people visiting with disabilities less inclined to try to take the metro. But yes, I could have asked.

how would you rate it in comparison to the subway in New York ?
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
Hmm, hard to compare. The trains will take you pretty much everywhere in NYC, but not so much in Cairo. There's a lot more walking involved to get to certain places in Cairo, and as mentioned in the video, most of the places tourists want to visit aren't very accessible by the metro right now, but some will be in the future. The most local form of transportation is the microbus, that will get you anywhere you want to go, but it's a lot more difficult (and perhaps intimidating) for tourists to navigate the microbuses. Aside from that the subway system is decent here. They are clean and less smelly than the NYC subway.

Hey Guiselle - everything good? Sure, it was a very informative vid. It looks like very easy to navigate. A few doubts: no card needed to ride the trains only by buying tickets? I might assume coming back to Cairo I would need to do the same but backwards, right? Are there security checkpoints in all metro stations? Greetings.
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
You can buy a card with multiple rides on them, yes. Or you can just buy single rides every time you take the train, it just depends on how often you plan to be using the train. It doesn't go to many places most tourists plan to frequent, but the microbuses will get you almost everywhere. There aren't security checks at every station (I don't think) but most stations I have been to have them

My husband, daughter, cousin and i are Moving there in one more month can u do a video about apartment villas and stand alone?
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
No, I'm sorry I can't. I've gotten asked a lot recently about making videos about apartments or villas, but there's a number of reasons I will not be making that video. First, I don't speak much Arabic, so it's very, very difficult to speak with any landlords or people renting out apartments, rooms, etc. I would 100% need to recruit help from my Egyptian boyfriend or friends to translate, it's virtually impossible without help. Also, bigger risk of being ripped off if you go by yourself as a foreigner. Second, I don't want to waste anyone's time by asking them to meet me and have me view their apartment when I am not actually looking to rent anywhere (because I already rent my own apartment - which was a royal pain in the ass to find, I should mention 😅). They also might not even allow me to film inside the apartment, if I were to actually try and contact people, take time off work to drive to wherever the apartment was, and view it. Those are two big reasons for me to never make this video, I wish I could satisfy people asking for me to do this, but it's just a huge headache for me. I do wish you luck though!

Every subway stop in Toronto provides a vista into a different flavor of the city. The TO map isn't true to scale, and the subway stops aren't actually equal distances from each other. It is just easier o present to people on the train that way. The Cairo map seems to mirror that. Each stop can't possibly be an identical distance from the next, can it? Surely there are clusters. So ... how close to the river is Line 1? Are there any stops that are within a block of an interesting dock, beach, or parkette? Do any of the Line 1 stops lead to a Chinatown, Little India, British Expat area, etc.? Is there a subway stop somewhat dedicated to that scorpion prison in the south end of the city, which is near to the river? Are any subway stops dedicated to shopping malls, sporting arenas, universities, nightlife hot spots, weird industries? In short, where do all those subway stops go?
@Gventures4 ай бұрын
It is not that close. A mistake many people make about Cairo is thinking they can walk to many places. The distances between things is vast, it is much further than it appears on the map, and it is hot and the traffic is overwhelming for most people visiting. Crossing the street is a challenge for many, let alone dozens for long distances. No, no stops within a block of the river. No stops near expat communities. Scorpion prison? Not that I am aware of. Why are you asking about prisons? I explained where these metro stops go in the video, summarizing that they don't go to many places of interest for foreigners. They exist for normal, regular, local people to get around. Just like any subway in the world.

Does the metro run anywhere close to the airport?
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
Not close enough. It's easier to just take an Uber for $6-$8 USD

@@Gventuresthe closer station for the airport is adel mansour station at line 3
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
@@Koul_The_King Yeah but it's not close at all. After the metro you need to transfer to a bus. If you walked from the metro to the airport it would take like 3 hours through highways and stuff. His question was "Is the metro anywhere near the airport?" And it's not.

sorry you didn't look up well all metro stations have elevators for old people and disabled... but it may be tricky to find to avoid kids playing and to be clear from people walking in stations ... if you ask for it in any stations operators will show you the way to it and it is from the street level to ticket hall and another one for every bank of the train ... i hope you correct that in your videos because what you say give bad repetition for Cairo metro... it is the 4th biggest metro network in world ... and millions of people using it every day
@ahmmoh24065 ай бұрын
also there is many trains models... the one in your video is the oldest model from the 80's ... in the same line if you wait for the other coming train there is new model with air-condition and live screens show the trip stations and also Audio notifications and instructions and much better noise isolation... thanks for your nice video's in Egypt

Go make your own video. Show me where the elevator is in Tahrir Square. Thanks

I'm sorry but make your own video if you have a problem with mine. I took this train to show going to Coptic Cairo, and I got on the first one that arrived. My videos show reality, I don't paint over, pretend or depict anything from the truth. It was just the train that arrived and I got on. That is what reality is like, I am not waiting for another newer model of train that I didn't even know existed to film. Jeez. Nothing is ever good enough for some people

I’ve been watching your vids in preparation for my solo trip to Egypt. I’ve travelled loads in my life but not been anywhere for 5 years so I’m a bit nervous. I’ve been to Egypt before (only spent one night n two days in Cairo) but not alone. I’ve been to many countries alone but never a Muslim country so I’m just trying to make sure I know what I’m doing. My daughter used my phone to get money off vouchers on Uber eats so now I can only have an Uber account if I change my phone number and I can’t do that so will I be ok getting around without Uber? Cz all the info online says Uber is essential in Cairo. I don’t even know if I should cancel my whole trip or go somewhere else 🤷🏼♀️ I really don’t know what to do right now. Solo female traveller from the uk, half way through my 40’s 💜 tia to anybody that replies to this comment 💜

Oh don't worry, you'll be fine! I just made a video about safety, here's that if you want to watch it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kH-ngquCrLN-l7M About the taxi situation. I really do recommend Uber (or another taxi app) to get around the city, as those white city taxis will always try to rip you off. Can I ask how you are planning to have internet? Because if you buy a local SIM while here (cheap, much cheaper than the international plans from your home country), then you will automatically have a new number anyways (while you are here using the Egyptian SIM), and will have no issues using Uber. Don't cancel your trip because of taxis, it's nothing to worry about! And aside from Uber, there are also other apps like Didi and InDriver, which are very similar to Uber. Let me know if you have any more questions about anything, whether it's SIM cards, or where to catch Uber at Cairo International, etc. Hope this helps!
