Hi Brian, at 13:03 you prepare the boreholes. Is this tool some special pin/needle or a normal twist drill ? Thanks + regards Paul.

That is just a sharpened stainless steel pin in a pin vise.

How come you didn't use the side steps? The back light is usually on the right side as far I can see on most pictures, maybe I am wrong on this, but never seen in the middle. Also the door frame might be in the way? Very good instruction. I have a very old F unit (about 40 yrs) in Santa Fe that I want to re-paint to UP, I will experiment on it. Sorry to see you go, I really enjoy your channel. Don't go too far.

I did not use the side steps because I will be putting grab irons up the engineers side of the nose. PRR units have the rear light up over the center of the door. No, the door frame is not in the way. the top of the door frame is at the top of the current door frame. I am taking it when you say right side as if you are looking at the back and the engineers side is the right side. That is how I understand it. I agree, but what I have seen on the right side is about center and I cannot put it there. It would have to go at least 3/4 of the way up the door. I want to put it on the right side. I am still in the investigation stages.

@@6axlepwr OK, Thanks for the feedback. There are always different interpretation for almost anything. If that what you believe is the closest to prototypical. Anyway, is nice to follow your channel, I learn quite a few things, even if I will not be able to do exactly what you do.

I have three photos I took. Two at the Illinois Railway Museum and one at the NC Museum of Transportation showing the rear backup light in three different locations. B&O F7, right side mid way up. Metra ex CNW F7, centered above the door. Milwaukee Rd. F7 left side high up near the top of the door.

@@6axlepwr OK, so it is what ever you like most, I guess. I had the same dilemma with very early Gunderson high end well car as they made many small variation for different railroad. Anyway, the goal is to enjoy the hobby. Since I am here, What do you use for blasting your plastics, I found confusing reports on the net. Thanks

@@Christiane069 I use aluminum oxide. 180 grit. At least I think it is 180 grit. Maybe 200. I can never remember.

I've tried to get parts from im and it was a pointless effort, no one knew what I was talking about. I wanted the Leslie horn kits they offered at one time.
