People need to chill. The Fever are not a championship caliber team this year but they will be in another season or two. The have achieved their goal of making it to the playoffs. The season is already a huge success! People want instant gratification and it's just not going to happen...but it will...in time. The lost to a good team. It happens. Meanwhile we get to enjoy the fact that Caitlin is evolving into everything we hoped she'd be in the WNBA.

If they had a person at the coaching position that could do their job, they might have won tonight. They can beat ANYONE in the league, but a coach that is AWOL during the 3rd quarter, and didn't even realize until the post game press conference the second time she was asked about the 3rd that she screwed up and everyone knew it.

The season is far from over. People were getting carried away. This is a learning experience. Refs are gonna be refs ( meaning terrible) so the crowd need to be more "vocal" and call out their terrible calls. And the team needs to stay focused and not let bad calls rattle them (easier said than done in my experience). Feverball is what got them here and they have to concentrate on that. As for sides she did get things wrong in the third, but to blame the loss on Sides is wide of the mark.

These losses are necessary… it shows the holes in their games and what they need to work on. The Lynx are my team to win it all. No shame in this loss.
@madflower8723
@madflower8723 Ай бұрын
@@GoodGame391The most glaring hole is Sides ability to coach that hasn't improved over the course of the season lack of TOs to stop runs, and regroup, along with sketchy player subs, which we saw last game as well. Mitchell still goes into ball hog mode, that hasn't improved. They made it to the playoffs, so they reverted to what wasn't working at the beginning of the season. And while you make a point there is a ton to learn from the game. They have already played 35 games. They should know what they are supposed to be doing by now.

The issue I see is that it takes so much attention of her teammates to keep her from getting techs. This has a negative impact on them. And with coaching this will come. It’s clear CC is trying to complain a lot and walk that fine line of not getting a tech. Refs trying to not call one. A couple games ago you could read the refs lips to CC: “you need to stop”.

@@outsidethegarden The could win with a good experienced coach. They haven't fixed issues they had at the beginning of the season. Some of this stuff, like the lack of 3rd quarter timeout, shouldn't have happened at all. Then the player subs at the end was a bit mind boggling. She had Smith and Samuelson in at the same time. Very interesting so many people cannot see this. By keeping the tempo up the fever is not put into a difficult position when playing the half-court game. This slowing down leads them to have to play better D which it appears they are not good at it, yet. So, stay with their strengths.... running up and down the court. If they watched the Lynx's tapes, the Fever would have known the Lynx are not good in a transition, fast paced game. Good call.

I like CC shooting sometimes in the mid-range. She CAN be shut down because the scouting report was so simple on her, before. Drive all the way to the bucket, right. Step back 3, to the left. The W caught on. Unlocking mid-range is going to make her a 25 PPG player. Or more. She took it to the cup 2-3 times, which is standard, but I was happy to see her NOT play it safe with a 3 or a drive, only. Fact is, sometimes her forcing a middy is better than hitting a wide open teammate for a fumbled pass or a missed 3. She just needs to be more judicious about when she uses diff parts of her offensive game. Loving the development and I can't wait to see how the Fever deal with the playoffs - this is a learning experience for everyone on the team. I also loved (at times) and hated how fired up she got. She was on edge all day long. It was fun and scary at the same time.

Well , I may have to differ with you on your assessment her one play in most cases one play does not cost a game. The poor coaching decisions had an effect. The fact the other players missed their shots. Letting the frustration of so many poor calls going against the Fever get to CC. How about her points plus assists account 40pts. One could say if the rest of the team just shot each players average the Fever win. So, the other teammates cost the game by not playing well enough. However, it has been a long season of poor calls and sometimes human nature plays a part. Let's say coming out for the 3th , the Fever start in the run and gun fast paced game. Next Mitchell plays as a team player again. Smith makes a few more shots. AB doesn't play as if she is walking through the park. Hall and the bench are not sleepwalking through the game. The 3 quarter may have been different. Everyone has to do their job. However, since the light primarily falls on Clark, when things go well, I guess it shines on her when an error is made. The fact still remains. The team fell apart, and it is up to the coach to make the right decisions.

They remind me of the Spurs 2000- 2008 not from a personnel standpoint, but in how they scheme basketball. Add Colier who is a top three player in the league plus a quality back court with a solid bench, and this team just plain beats the Fever convincingly in the playoffs. I never felt the Fever were as solid as the top 4 teams, Lynx, Liberty, Aces, and Sun, just a year or two and a roster upgrade or two behind. First, Sides had a terrible game with pretty bad rotation. I'll say it again, Temi Fagbenle is a great gal and teammate, but her coming back is not doing Indiana any favors like everyone thought it would. Temi getting on the floor turns this team into that 0-8 team before she got injured when she was playing, where some players can have great stats individually, like Caitlin had in this game, but the team still loses in frustrating fashion. Temi is almost no threat offensively because she can't post, she can't hit mid-range shots, she can't hit threes, and even the go-ahead CC-to-Stuelke plays are just not working because either CC bungles it, or Temi can't catch it. The Indiana offense just breaks down completely when Temi is on the floor. The way this Fever team has been playing since Temi got injured, and through its recent success is players have just had improved efficiency, and Temi hasn't been part of that unfortunately and understandably because she was injured. Dantas hasn't played well the last two games, but Dantas still gives this team more stability. Fever is not having a scoring drought like in that 3rd quarter when Dantas is on the floor because Dantas can get maybe even easier buckets than Boston just from her size unlike Fagbenle. So Sides sidelining Dantas for most of this game in favor of Temi was terrible personnel management. But the blame is shared on this one starting with Caitlin. It seemed like she got a hot streak early, maybe got too overconfident and started going for a little too much similar to what she was doing in her first games for Indiana, and neglecting to do the playmaking that she was doing when she couldn't shoot the ball well. Caitlin also needs to bring that maturity that she displays off the court to the court because on court Caitlin is like a petulant child sometimes when things do not work out like she wants. She can learn from Napheesa Collier in this respect.

When being locked in and totally focused for the four quarters is a necessity for the build up now for the play offs.. they have to start making it a consistent habit as opposed to now and again… grinding out wins so often is good because you have a touch of luck on your side, but you can only ride that pony for so long and hope the opposition are playing worse than they are … they need to stick to what they know … which is pace .. pace and pace … when they play like this, they dominate and take the fire out of the opposition!

L.A. misses a big chance not to develop her more. Just the pirate link viewers from illegal gambling sites add up to more than viewership than NBA pass. WNBA does not know business. CC is WNBA queen. Li also can be a bigger fatter queen as well. A lot of viewers in China watch WNBA. They are gamblers and watch W games. A challenge question to W commissioner here. A lot of viewers here in Asia. You’re being too negative to say they can’t beat the Lynx. Fever have proved they have the potential to beat anyone. They have the player of the month, coach of the month, rookie of year last year and should be this year too. They have beat many of the top teams. They need to learn from where they lost their lead, capitalise on their strengths and improve on their weaknesses. If they accept they can’t beat lynx, then they won’t. Hopefully they don’t have your attitude on this one. Chin up, we can make a comeback!! 💪

Dont know why people assume they were going deep in the playoffs. Team won 13 games last year, and may finish 22-18 if the Aces play up to their standard. Its an improvement, but far from championship material. CC is a special player, but the shit with the refs needs to stop. Yes they are ass across the league, but you plead your case with them and keep it pushing. Anything more is just a bad look that is on some loser level shit, and CC is far from that. She will knock it out if she wants a chip. Hull is a quality player, and they have their three to build around but everyone else is a liability night to night. Too much on and off with defense, layups, and shooting from the rest of the team. You already mentioned defense which will improve with time, and I believe a better Coach if Sides doesn't figure it out next year.

I said this all along, but everyone shoved it aside, the fever isn't there yet, we need another shooter when Kelsey isn't performing like Arike, we also need a defender like Ezi Magbegor. CC has from the onset carried every single team on her back, which is why I keep referring to the all star game when Arike went off, CC declined being subbed in because she knew she didn't have to do it all on her own. There's a difference between a regular season team and a playoff team. All the same I appreciate how far we've come. Our home streak and win streak are both over.

@mkmstillstackin

I agree with you that the Lynx are a better team, but saying the Fever have absolutely no chance of beating them is a bit extreme, I think. They just need to make some adjustments in the way they defend the Lynx, in which case Sides needs to coach smarter, and require them to play more disciplined defense as a team. When the Lynx came out in the second half, it was clear that they had made some half-time defensive adjustments and were willing to sellout to stop both AB (in the paint), along with AB & CC's pick-n-roll action, which had been working in the first half. In fact, in AB's case they were essentially triple teaming her in the paint. Fever seemed to have no answers to counter these adjustments, but you're also right, Mick, that it didn't help that KM reverted back to her old ways of trying to play one-on-one hero ball on just about every offensive position. Also, I agree with you that the Fever did an awful job in defensive rotations when guarding the Lynx 3-point line. Lastly, I also agree that I'd rather they face any other team in the league in a playoff series other than the Lynx.

How can you be a pro and be grossly out of shape( Katie, Nalyssa, Dantas). Reaction times are terrible. Jogging around the block 4 times a week is not being in pro shape. If you cant shoot 85% free throw pct. you better work on it till you can. Learn how to shoot layup. Shoot 100 every day with somebody that has a hand in your face. Half their attempts are released below their head. These are basic bball moves. They are pros. Time to start acting like it

The game stats are completely even accept for what the refs can control -FT-- It is my contention after watching this game that there is corruption within the refereeing. They dont get paid much and now that there are millions watching these games you can be assured there are millions betting. I was really excited about this league until today. I have now lost interest from the obvious corruption. Clark Boston and Mitchell could all see the corruption at the end of the this game. Caitlin drives to the basket and 4 defenders all jump into her, she lands on the floor and there is no foul? When you start getting such bad calls, you lose confidence which is what happened to the Fever today. This league better clean itself up fast.

In the second half, Reeves took away the post, shutting down the pick-n-rolls, and cuts to the basket. Clark had no passing lanes. They forced the Fever to the parimeters, where the Fever can't make 3s or mid-range shots. Sides had no answer. Fever have to shoot 42+% on 3s and 98% in the paint. Not close.
