Have a great weekend full of practice and trying out new things on the cajon, everyone!

Initially I wanted to play some videogames this weekend but I think I'll spend it with my cajon 😂 I've been trying to practice coordination and it's getting a little better. Starting slow and then raising the tempo on the metronome after I'm comfortable has been helping me a lot when I practice the grooves you have posted on here

It's great to hear you're making progress!!! Keep it up and let's check in again next weekend. I'll try and get another video out then :-)

Thanks for the video! I'd love to use brushes in jazz music but I really don't see many examples of cajon in jazz. Any advice on rhythms, tone, etc for jazz?
@rosslmccallum3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Justin! Yeah that’s a good point. There are some jazzy sounding examples in the inspiration playlist I made. Keeping it nice and light with the brush is key I think. Do you have any jazz standards you’d like to play on cajon in particular?
@@rosslmccallumright now I'm learning how to walk bass over Rhythm Changes, and I want to bring my cajon in to kind of synchronize my practice sessions between instruments
@rosslmccallum3 жыл бұрын
@@justinglanton5168 I see! Maybe getting comfortable playing a swing rhythm with a brush in the right hand while playing basic accents with the left would be the place to start.

I returned here after trying breakbeats 1, basics need refurbished. Are U R or L handed? If R, U propose the timekeeper is in the dominant hand???? Thanks!!😉
@rosslmccallum2 жыл бұрын
Hey Robert, always good to solidify skills :-) I’m right handed and use my right hand as the time keeper. Eventually, it’s worth being comfortable to some degree using either hand as the time keeper but starting this way is what felt natural to me.
