I´ve started playing cajon seriously with 66 because of the way you teach. Before that I´was a teacher for decades. So I know, what I´m talking about. Thank you so much!

I think you have well earned the right to call this the.. Ross knock n' roll technique...fab mate..great to have you back ..and I am sure you have already got some nice groove stuff in the bag using your roll...very good Ross 😁😁🥁🥁🥁also it's great to play cajon without using any add ons...it makes you really think about how to get different dynamics..the Peruvian natural way...the way it was traditionally played....add ons ok for bit of fun....but getting the most out of a nice wooden box...always wins....and that's why your videos are so good.... shakers ok tho...lol😁😁🥁🥁🥁

Thanks so much!!! Yeah cajon is best when it’s not a drum kit compromise but an instrument in its own right. Glad to read your comment.

Yes knock roll, but as a Drummer i think it is a kind of Linear phrasing…RLLK or LRRK Anyway it is very interesting and you are a very Smart teacher. Thanks from italy!

I have a decent Cajon, but my finger rolls don't have nearly the sound or clarity that yours do...any ideas?
@rosslmccallum
@rosslmccallum 3 жыл бұрын
Starting out slow and making the priority volume and clarity is the only way really. I do a lot of practice even not at the cajon. My fingers are doing some kind of tapping pattern on desks and my legs etc. all the time but it surely makes an impact. So try a bit of both of those ideas and I think that will help

Very cool video Ross!! I usually use the Knock to give the cajon kind of a "snare cross stick" sound! But love this idea to combined on a roll!
