Hey Marcos, That is a Sela CaSela Tineo cajon. In the video I believe we were using a Shure Beta 91 inside the cajon tapes to a small towel to prevent vibration. - Paul

El cajón es de Chincha, ciudad al sur de Lima, en Perú. Caitro soto y Chabuca Granda se lo enseñaron a Paco de Lucía, este tío se lo llevo a España donde lo hizo conocido tocando flamenco, después de eso se difundió por todo lado. El cajón peruano es una contribución de los africanos a la música latinoamericana.

Enrique Cruz : That is so funny ... because it is in a way very true. Someone else commented that playing a guitar is just pulling strings ... or something like that. You’re missing the point. I do think the cajon is a great instrument in the right hands. But that doesn’t take away the fact that the instrument is basically a ported wooden box which is not so different from a desk in school. Maybe not visually, but they are both plain flat surfaces that you can pound on with your hands. Both do require practice, skill, and a good sense of timing to make them sound good. But no matter how good you get at pounding a school table or desk, you are not going to be a rock star playing the thing. Hence his lack of respect for the cajon player. At least I think I made the correct connection between the two in what I just wrote. Anyway ... whatever. Correct me if I’m wrong. It really isn’t that big of a deal :-)

For every instrument you do need a genius playing it. You can't say for instance "Oh a Trumpet, is just a sugar cane were I blow it and sounds come out", if things were just that easy. Now it is true that in the percussion matter, it really doesn't take much than rhythm to play it. I've never played a full drum acoustic set, yet I did the other day and was able to fully play songs jammim with friends. The percussion world and string world are so different on that matter.

How the hell did these guys manage to get themselves on that huge stage playing to what looks like thousands of people? I do hope they all came to see The Peppers but were instead treated to this um ... wow, lame. Just lame. No other word will do. Hell, they have to be if they are lazy enough to adopt that name for their band. And you know they all thought it would be good fun and everyone would laugh and want to come and see them!
