The youngest chick had obviously been watching Annie sunbathe, as it assumed an identical pose in the sun. Annie was opposed to that idea.

These falcon chicks are so entertaining! They remind me of the eagles in California! So sweet when they are soft, fluffy white! I missed live cam, but catching this now was great! It made me laugh, particularly the spoof about the actions of the mother n then the copy cat chick in the sun!

I was watching this on the livestream earlier, just love it when she spreads out her wings and tail feathers like that! Her feathers are gorgeous, such beautiful patterns in her tail. 😍 Saw the chick trying to sunbathe too, adorable! 😊 Really good views of the pinfeathers coming in.

This is just adorable--thank you! Love how the chick mimicked mom (possibly thinking she'd figured out a way to be cooler). Annie, though, immediately kicked into mom-mode to protect the little guy from the sun. And the chick, instead of getting cooler, was now not only getting direct sunlight but also getting mom-heat. Whew! The other three, in the meantime, carried on snoozing and splooting. Loved it! Thank you!

Miss Bossy Rosa stealing Mama's sunbathing spot was one of my fave SKH videos from last season. I immediately thought of it, too! When I had birds, they would bathe but then sit with wings folded and develop a kind of musty smell in their armpits. I wonder if this "sunbathing" also airs out the armpits. Seems like it would work. I know some birds also bathe in dirt and I thought possibly for the same reason. (I know about the parasite theory too.)
