Tell me about it. Our boats now have 3 inches of snow sitting on them. Lol

Nice! Thanks for posting! What kind of kayaks do you use? Have you ever tried kayaking around Honeymoon island - or is the current too strong?

Thank you. We paddle pack canoes. Mine is a Placid Boatworks Rapidfire built in Lake Placid NY. Here is their website: placidboatworks.com/ My wife paddled a Swift Cruiser in this video.. a Canadian made canoe.. but now paddles a Placid Boatworks Oseetah. The boats weigh between 22 and 25 lbs and are made of carbon fiber and kevlar. We haven't paddled around Honeymoon Island... sea kayaks would be much better suited for the open ocean compared to our pack canoes. We do love taking our canoes to the Florida hot springs.

I wonder how often Florida sees a Placid boat!?!?

Not very often. But they sure work great on the intercoastals and the springs.

From the Honeymoon Island causeway it took us 10 minutes to paddle over to the tip of Caladesi Island. Then an other 45 minutes to paddle down the shoreline to the mangrove trail at the Caladesi Island Marina. For us the entire trip was 4 hours... but that can easily vary depending on how much time you spend in the mangrove trail, hanging out at the beach... or how fast you paddle. Be sure to check the marine forecast before you go. Enjoy.

Did you really take photos of two freshwater Red Eared Slider turtles in the saltwater?
