It’s totally a Calgary icon, I agree! And without it, there’s really no amusement parks for families. There’s Galaxyland in Edmonton but it’s only a fraction of what Calaway Park is! Thanks so much for watching!

It originally opened in the early 80’s. Went there as a kid. Went there again in the mid 90’s and it was really run down and sad. I hope someone has restored it

There are definitely still some of the same rides and attractions from when I was a kid in the 80s/90s. But they have added a LOT of new things and I think it's looking pretty well-maintained. :)

Alberta has Calaway Park, Galaxyland (I'm hoping to do a video on that this year too), and that's all I can think of at the moment for decent amusement parks. We have fairs that go through town with midways, but that's not quite the same! :)

I just found your channel. It’s quite amazing. Haha 00.5. That swing ride looks very fun. Get a tour of Calaway Park. I am so glad there is ride for kids. Usually there’s only roller coasters. Scary rides. And rides my kids never want to go on. Your son must be brave going on that ride. I showed this to my daughter and son, and they were like. “That’s way to scary mommy.” And my daughter is 6 and my son is 7. Good thing you gave the kids to your husband when you went on the roller coaster. Just imagine, “Okay sweeties hold on to my money and my sunglasses, okay. Stay right here.” *After the rides over* “Hey where did you get that ice cream?” “We bought it with our money!” The log ride is great. Is there seatbelts? And what are your thoughts on plus size riders? I am plus sized. It really bothers me sometimes when I go on rides. Could you please reply and bye.

There are height restrictions on all the rides, to keep the little ones safe. My kids were way too young to go on the roller coaster, but their 9 year old cousin was finally tall enough to ride this year! The log ride looks a lot scarier than it is, you sit behind your kids and wrap your arms around them, and gravity and inertia keep you pushed into your seat. I also learned there are seatbelts on the log ride, although they are optional and I've never used them. I saw a lot of plus sized people at the park, and they seemed to doing the rides no problem, including the roller coaster and log ride. I would just use good judgement, and if the safety harnesses don't feel right, I wouldn't do the ride. But overall, it looked like everyone was having a good time when we attended this year. :)

Yes, just outside Calgary on the way towards the mountains. The red and blue ride wasn't that fast, but it did go in a lot of circles. I'm not one to get dizzy, but that ride just about got me! LOL My son was unaffected, on the other hand! ;)

It was a totally beautiful day! Almost a little too hot - after I got all dizzy on that spinning up-and-down ride, the hot sun made me feel pukey! Luckily the ice cream fixed that! LOL

This is my childhood I lived so close I could just walk there it got to a point that the employees knew me and let me cut lines me and my brother went every single day this place is awesome

That would be amazing! The closest to a 'personal' experience I ever got there was in high school when some friends and I did a road trip to Calaway, and it poured rain once we got there. We'd driven over 2 hours to get there, so there was no way we were turning around and leaving. Everyone else left - so we almost had the park to ourselves. The ride operators basically let the rides just go and go until we begged them to let us off. It was amazing. :)

I remember when I was 6 I think my mom was going on timber falls, I wanted to say bye to her because I was mommy’s little girl so I squeezed through the line and went and hugged her, then attempted to go back to my dad and my siblings but the lady there picked me up and sat me on the log. I was crying and begging my mom to drop me off on the side and when she said she couldn’t do that, I was absolutely terrified. I was crying the whole way. After the ride I told myself I would NEVER go on it again in my life, but sure enough when I was 10 my confidence regained and I went on it again. Now I love it!

Oh my god!!!! I love amusement parks!!! I haven’t been to one in such a long time because no one would go on the rides with me!!!!!! Everyone is such a wimp! Can I go with you!?? Hahaha! Yeah, they didn't bat an eye when I whipped out my camera. The GoPro was strapped to my chest so that wasn't a safety issue or anything, but for a lot of the video I just pulled out my iPhone. :) Please come to an amusement park with me! We'd have so much fun!

Down the Wrabbit Hole Travel it was pretty good! Adrenaline Test Zone, Chaos and Ocean Motion were the only rides closed still. It was very quite in the morning, waited 15 minutes for a ride on the coaster. In the afternoon it was packed. Stood in lines for 2+ hours

The big coaster really isn't so bad. That first drop makes your stomach flip but after that it goes quickly and is a lot of fun! :)

I have never been to Calaway, what are your thoughts on plus sized riders? Are some of the rides that adults ride with their children with accommodate plus sized people?

I guess it would depend on the individual, but I did see what could be considered plus-sized people on several rides. The log ride doesn't have buckles so it would be the most comfortable ride, but there were 'big and tall' people on the roller coaster and lots of other rides. Once again, it would probably depend on the size of the person so I'd just exercise good judgement. :)

Other than the Chaos, the park has really good maintenance! I'm a season pass holder and I love it! BTW, did you see the Vortex's new paint job? Purple supports! The old paint was really rusty and peeling, so I'm glad they gave it a makeover!

Well, you might have to bid farewell to the Chaos. It looks like its days are numbered. When I went Labour Day weekend, it looked like it was being dismantled. If I remember correctly, the time came to renew their licensing to use those trademark images and it was too pricy, so Calaway chose to remove them. Still kept the caveman style rocks, but somehow changed it all up to monsters?

Been to both but Calaway is privately owned and not meant to be a big park. They probably need to invest some money into maybe a bigger coaster and maybe a boomerang coaster for thrill seekers. It’s got a lot of flat rides that are fun and it’s got a stage we’re they do shows witch I really enjoyed.

Hey, um why doesn’t the log ride have seatbelt? You can just fly out of the log! Also the swing ride looks very dangerous. Look how high and there’s kids on there! The roller coaster is ok, but you’re a dare devil filming it, what if you dropped it! You would be in sooo much trouble. WHAT THOSE RIDES LOOK SOOOOOO DANGEROUS. I AM 16 YEARS OLD AND THATS FREAKING SCARY YOUR THREE YEAR OLD AND FOUR YEAR OLD WENT ON THE LOG RIDE IT IS WAY TO DANGEROUS FOR THOSE KIDS. I FELT FREAKING SICK WATCHING THIS

Oh dear, take a deep breath! LOL Your response is making ME feel anxious! ;) I just learned from someone who was recently at Calaway that certain logs DO have seat belts, so you can always request to ride on one with the buckles. As long as you don't stand up and act ridiculous, however, you're not going to fall out of the log. It's quite smooth and peaceful as you ride along, until the drops and then inertia and gravity keep you pinned in place. Just don't break the no-standing rule and you'll be fine. As for the roller coaster, I had a GoPro strapped to my chest so there was no chance I'd 'drop' the camera since I wasn't holding anything and it was secured in place. Are you going to Calaway Park in the future? Please don't be scared if you are - the rides are meant to give you a thrill but they are safe.

Yea me and fire were screaming along to songs when we did it especially labyrinth and since we had the boarding attractions “thing” we were able to go four times so at the end when we finished singing labyrinth a girl behind was like: how are you guys SINGING?! You should have a great time! It is supposed to be hot tomorrow, so take hats, water and sunscreen - there's not a ton of shade there, especially if you get caught up in long lines. And cool down on the log ride for sure! ;)

There are a few rides meant for little ones. There are some she can do if she's sitting with an adult, and there's a little swing ride she can sit in by herself (she should be old enough for that one). She'll have a blast! :)

I really love Calaway it’s my favorite place and my favorite rides are: The log ride, Roller Coaster, test zone, ocean motion, the bumper cars, and the egg ride. Quadracer687 (Laura) ps I live in the province where this is located and I enjoy going there with my family and friends.
