Ten years ago I put a ton of gypsum on a lawn another attempt to break up the clay. A couple of years later I realized that this was the wrong answer. A soil test was performed late summer 2021 and --Bay-- base* saturation of calcium is over 90% at some 5300 parts per million. The advice on the guy produced the soil sample results said that it's coming at the price of potassium primarily.

@@AgPhD WOW! Awesome that some experts took my dilemma and told how to remedy it. I didn't think about the nitrogen flush and I really don't want to flush the lawn with tap water here in the Chicago near western suburbs cuz that's just going to dump more calcium on the lawn. This is why I weekly now I'm putting down-to-earth Langbeinite 0-0-24 every weekend that it is not over 90°F. I was using Eopsoma 0-0-60 but the granules sizes are the size of beach balls. I've been kind of on a lawn Care binge-watching KZbin especially pertaining to fertilizers and The Andersons pgf complete with its small granule size of greens quality. Thanks again for the support! EDIT! For the record: I wasn't quite as lawn savvy when I put the gypsum on the lawn as I was six to eight years later when I finally performed a soil test because the lawn was looking ill. Therefore, I didn't have the knowledge of the calcium being out of whack. Frankly, it may not have been out of wack if I didn't just carpet-bomb the lawn with gypsum.

Hi! I'm doing some research on how different elements can have an impact on plant growth, I was wondering if you guys knew what could be considered a high ammount of calcium per square meter for radishes and why. That would be really helpful, thank you!

If you added too much calcium to your soil how do you fix it?

You can add elemental sulfur, plant alkalinity loving crops like beans and garlic، in addition the continous addition of compost, manures and nitrogen fertilizers acidifies the soil

If I'm growing tomatoes and I want to add calcium, how would I do that without raising the pH? Could I treat the CACO3 with vinegar and then add it to the plant soil?
