Calcium nodules and plaster delamination from a bad plaster job.

This was suppose to be a simple Chlorine wash and refill. As you can see I discovered a very bad Plaster Job. This is a good example of how a bad prep job can ruin a pool. Make sire your pH, Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness and CYA/Conditioner are always at proper levels.

The most important is the surface preparation the best procedure is strip the old plaster layers, same companies due the sandblasting or acid wash before apply new plaster is cheaper process and I think that is the problem in this Pool video

Same for me, the previous homeowner replastered 1 year ago but it started delaminating everywhere and many area cracked. I started patching but it seems that it all needs to be redone. I can't find pool plaster for sale, can I get away by mixing Thin Set with Marble sand? If not, where can I buy plaster?

Besides etching the plaster what are other signs of corrosive water? Can corrosive Water compromise the surface and actually cause scale to form in spots? I think I’ve seen Pools that were corrosive with many calcium nodules on them. Which is not what you would think, but wanted to ask if these two conditions are correlated.

I had my pool done on Fri. It looks like that now. It's tiger striped and spotted all over. Up the walls. Trowels makes and footprints. The sales guy days that's what it says it will look like in the contract. And wants to a I'd wash. How can they acid wash when there's water in the pool?

They need to drain the pool if they plan on a normal acid wash. There is a no drain acid wash where they take the Alkalinity down to zero which makes the pool very corrosive. Kinda like an acid startup. But if you have foot prints and trowel marks I highly doubt that will come out with an acid wash. I would call a reputable plaster company to take a look at it.

Also what would did the other company end up doing in this case? Do they break out the bad parts and patch it or do u just leave it and wait for it to turn into a huge eye sore and eventually just re do it?

In some cases you can get away with a patch job. This pool was so bad it needs a re plaster. In fact the big air pocket I pointed out just popped. They are going to re plaster the pool.

5:25 you mention that you were going to do an update on this pool. Did you do an update?

She ended up doing a re-plaster shortly after this video with pebble. The cause of all those issues was bond failures.

@@swimmingpoolchemistrydoner5569 Curious. What is the Calcium from the tap, on average, in your area using the Taylor test? I'm down in Dana Point, California. And everything I've encountered in South Orange County has been below 180, to as low as 125 out of the tap.

@@drrhelms54 just paid $6000 and already have hair line cracks and divot and pock marks in less than a month. Have workmanship warranty for 1 year. Very sad. The complete project was $19000
