Melissa, I just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for being so amazing and so so helpful!! It's my first time taking chemistry since my sophomore year in high school (I'm a freshman in college now) and I've been struggling so much for the past two months. I went to tutoring, but that hardly helped and I was starting to lose all hope. But after having found you I finally realize that I AM capable of passing and UNDERSTANDING chemistry...not all hope is lost. So thanks so much once again. :) (p.s. Nice name!!)

Hi Melissa! Not sure if you'll see this comment but I'll ask anyway. I was given the question: "Complete combustion of a 0.0100 mol sample of a hydrocarbon, CxHy, gives 1.792 L of CO2 at STP and 1.261 g of H2O. (a) What is the molecular formula of the hydrocarbon? (b) What is the empirical formula of the hydrocarbon?" There is no molar mass given. How do I solve this?

Your videos make a lot of sense! I just had one question...is the table necessary to draw out every time you convert grams to moles? (I just learned that with Avogadro's number). The way my teacher taught it was to just divide by the mass and then to divide again by the smallest number for the empirical formula part. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos!
