Although I use Excel almost every day, I don't typically work with formulas in Excel. Thus, I didn't realize that this software can be used for stats work to this extent. This is a very useful video that gives step-by-step detail regarding the calculation of the sample size in Excel.

Great video providing step-by-step instructions on how to calculate the sample size with a finite population!

Good evening Dr. Todd, I found you video very educational. The week six video discussed calculating the sample size needed to give a particular margin of error for a particular confidence level. In the video you gave a sample proportion, and demonstrated how to find a confidence interval for the population proportion.

I have been a big fan of Excel for years. However, I have not become very adept at utilizing formulas yet. I am excited to see how easy it is in this way and look forward to trying to become more competent at using Excel in these manners.

Hello Todd, great video! I was able to follow and repeat your results. My question is why does the sample size increase when the population is below 100 while all other variables are constant? What am I doing wrong?

If I have 5 groups with different number of populations and have a total population of 2500. Once I get the sample(484) for the entire population(2500) could I take the proportion of each group and multiply it by the sample size to determine the number per group I want to sample.

Great video, could you please elaborate further: who to guess for P (like in your case you've chosen 0.5?) and also what do you mean by population size? (in your case 2500?) does it mean if I am running a trial at a clinic that would be the monthly, weekly or annual clinic population? A bit confused and will thank you if you simplify that.
