paulklee07 The lyrics of this song from Bari theke paliye would roughly translate like this - "After travelling the world, I've reached the quirky city of Kolkata...(3 times) The city and its people are leaving me dumbfounded... Such a quirky city is this city of Kolkata... I had my home and a tiny piece of land by the river Padma... and my family too... I don't know why I lost all that... Such a quirky city is this city of Kolkata... In this concrete jungle of a city... amidst the hustle and bustle of its traffic... people brush past each other, not bothering to know their neighbour or colleagues... Such a quirky city is this city of Kolkata... The factory sirens announce the dawn... and there begins the maddening rush of the workers... the clacking of the machine fill the din... Such a quirky city is this city of Kolkata... After travelling the world, I've reached the quirky city of Kolkata... I find the Howrah Bridge mind-boggling... Seeing these beams and rivets intertwine, how I wish if all the people around us could entwine like this... to form a bridge of humanity across the river called "life"... Such a quirky city is this city of Kolkata...

Kolkata looked better when it was the 'Calcutta'.

It was the 2nd city of India after Mumbai now languishing at 7th or 8th

@@sagnikchaudhuri4142 No, rather Bombay was second after CALCUTTA. Calcutta was the first City number 1 City in India at that time.

The lyrics tell a tale of a vagabond musician ,typically called bauls ,in Bengal. In this particular song ,he recounts his days in then undivided Bengal ,his land and cattle on the banks of padma river. After partition ,he came on the other side of the border and is now amazed to see a city as big as Calcutta.

Caltutta was the name while speaking/writing in English. In spoken Bengali it's always Kolkata
