I hit pause in the last few minutes repeatedly to wipe tears - still not wanting to miss even a moment of this talk - Sabeen’s loss is an unfathomable loss to our community, our country and us all - she embodied a passion so silent yet so poignant. It’s such a pleasure to hear her mother - and to see the force behind the force - to experience the calm of her strength - the magnanimity of her wisdom. Thank you for this episode. I’m genuinely struggling through the last few minutes - the loss is so excruciatingly real - the words so profound - the learning so heartbreaking. But such an important learning that I continue - with prayers for Sabeen and her mother and for those she’s left behind.

As an Indian and being an Ethnic Bengali Hindu, I don't know why but I feel I can relate better with Karachi people than with the rest of the Pakistani people. Karachi feels similar to Kolkata in many ways.Mirza Ghalib wrote this shayari for Kolkata when he visited the city during British Rule "Kalkatte ka jo zikr kiya tu ne hum nasheen, Ik teer mere seenay mein mara kay haye haye (Ah me, my friend! The mention of Calcutta’s name, Has loosed a shaft that pierces my heart”. I feel sad for Karachi, this city deserved more fame and prosperity than what it received.

Was taken to T2F. A music night was underway. Met the owner. Exchanged pleasantries. Two weeks later, I realised the significance of where I had been when Sabeen was murdered and I read in the news why T2F was special and realised we had met. In the society that I am from in metropolitan India, spaces like T2F are common. But what is uncommon is the creation and nurturing of such a space in the face of sustained extremist intimidation. My heart goes out to Sabeen's mother and my deepest respect to Sabeen and for her legacy and memory.

Bohat shukriya Shahzad. I'm 30, male, from Pakistan and going through some very hard times currently and after listening to her somehow everything just seems like is either OK or is going to be OK. Don't know who this maam is, but she felt like one of the most relatable and apni type ki person to me. I wish we all had elders like her. Keep calling her on the podcast if possible.

I miss Sabeen and her kindness. She always made me feel seen. I developed my love for coffee and quirky objects at T2F. She cared for what we thought, expressed and created. In a city where art and culture was guarded, she literally created a door where anyone can enter and just be. I interacted with her online more than at the café, and for a young person, this nudge of encouragement meant a lot. She was this creative and inclusive force for this city because of the woman she was raised by.

unique experience to start watching podcast within 3 minutes of upload. What a gracious enlightened mother. She has experienced so much history of south asia in Calcuuta, Dacca and Karachi. she has done a lot for education. The changes in Karachi life from the friendly tolerant 50s to early 70s. Then our journey into this time no one welcomes but we are all in. But i have heard youngsters like you, Shehzad, Jibran Nasir and many more. I believe, because of all of you, there is hope for the future of Pakistan. Many thanks for this conversation.

I was wondering who savreen was, as the podcast progressed i was imagining how she would look by the qualities that the guest was mentioning, and as a beautiful image was unfolding 1:09:15 she said after her assassination and it suddenly all took a very dark shade. I got through the references in past tense that she was dead but assasination came as a shock.

What a POWERFUL podcast this was. Her energy and way of talking was soothing. My heart is exploding with love and sadness. I am also glad that she touched a little bit upon Biharis experiences during the entire East Pakistan fiasco. A lot of biharis including my grandparents, parents and relatives suffered a lot because they were considered as traitors by the locals. Bihari community rarely talks about that trauma but we are carrying it in our body.

I don't believe or see that under this leadership India has become communal. It is what it was, there are some communal rights but it happens at times due to politics or due to the ego of some religiously challenged people. It had happened under all leadership or else why India was divided before independence. The basis of division of a country was religion and the stigma does exist in different shape or form. It was very calming to listen to you. You have a very simple, warm and motherly effect when you talk. I am from Kolkata and a Bangali if you like to see the pictures of places you stayed in Kolkata I will surely send. Dhonyobad.

I would disagree ....India is becoming more communal day by day.... passing slurs like "kattua" , calling people who disagree with u (people... not u in specific) anti national, anti Hindu and Khalistani etc have become so common that it feels like new normal.... movies like PK,OMG were being made in bollywood some time back but if someone make these sort of movies now then u know the backlash they will face and how they will be projected on national media.....so please do have a thought on it and JAI HIND

As a podcast enthusiast, I have followed numerous influencers who unfortunately prioritize money and material possessions. It's truly wonderful to witness someone being genuine. Many people admire you and sincerely hope that you continue to stay true to yourself. Nowadays, KZbinrs and podcasters are often striving to gain mass appeal and present themselves as influential figures for powerful political and other forces. However, you stand out as one of the few who provide opportunities for deserving individuals, particularly the younger generation, to be heard. It is natural that over time, many of these established figures will fade away, making room for a new wave of young talents who need guidance to redirect their paths.

I can suppliment madam's story of train friendship ! I am from old Hyderabad State of India . In 1948 we got freedom from Nizam, during those times Razakars led by Kasim Rizvi created havoc in towns and cities . When there was a military interventions hundreds of muslim fled away from their villages . After a couple of years when they came back to their villages , they found their Masajids intact , well maintained , with daily diya-batti going on ! Their Hindu neighbors were doing it ! The Kasim Rizvi though tried and was sentenced for life, was handed over to Pakistan, to create harmony . Here I must tell you that this goodwill still exists......

India has not become a place of hatred. Pakistanis need to stop being hypocritical. You did not like India and pedalled the same narrative even when congress was in power. Congress has its own flaws and nothing wrong if a different party comes to power, India is still the same. Living in a country with a state religion, where non-muslims are discriminated by law and in constitution, please do not loosely talk about a country which is religious(unlike the west) at the same time pluralistic. Just compare a leader like Gandhi with Jinnah, Gandhi was deeply religious but stood for religious pluralism and often fasted for the minorities, Jinnah was non-religious and yet broke a country for a religious autocracy. I like your podcasts, but when you fail to acknowledge these fundamental issues and make loose comments, it gets annoying! Ofcourse, there will be trouble in a densely populated pluralistic society where people are actually following their faith so passionately, but everyone is trying at least. Everyone signed up to a constitution which treats people as equals, the law is trying to be nuanced and intricate so as to accommodate the diversity yet deliver justice and treat people equally. Did you know that even the RSS has a dedicated muslim wing as well, over and above their claim of being secular. Indian society is not perfect, but it is trying to move in the right direction and the current dispensation has not changed that course despite whatever you say or hear. I do not wish you agree with me, but do not talk without being well informed.

lol. Bhai india is a place of hatred now. India isn’t discussed in Pakistan as much as Pakistan is discussed in India. So no, Pakistan is not based on hatred towards India. Best wishes.

Fun fact from India:- Till last year Muslims were allowed having dance and Music in their weddings but a few months ago an order had been circulated in the Muslim community that "No Maulana will attend your wedding if you have Music and Dance in Shaadi time" and due to this reason Muslims are getting married without Bollywood songs. Muslims are trying to erase everything from their culture which makes them related to Hindus/Indians.

@@ThePakistanExperience I am talking about Indian Muslims. Shayad aap k country me abhi aisa koi Maulana ne boycott karne ki baat nahi ki hogi. Lekin India me Bollywood songs wali Weddings k against abhi kuch hi months pahle Aisa aaya hai. Baaki 4-5 months pahle to Bollywood sabhi Indian Muslims ki mehandi me chalte the but ab Maulanas k boycott ki wajah se Indian Muslims are scared that no Maulana will come to their wedding so they have stopped playing Bollywood songs. Right now Indian Muslims me ye trend chalu hua hai. Kal ko Pakistani Muslims will join the trend too.
