1) The Caldwell Baronetcy of Wellsborough, cp. Fermanagh was created in the Baronetage of Ireland in 1683 for Sir James Caldwell, High Sheriff of co. Fermanagh in 1677. He owned Castle Caldwell at Templecarne and bought the estate at Wellsborough. He was the son of John Caldwell (1603-39), a merchant in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, born at Preston, Ayrshire, Scotland. Sir John Caldwell, 6th Baronet, lived in Canada, where he was Treasurer General of Canada. Meath, Ireland - Charlotte Anne Caldwell (nee Abdy) (1783-1858), wife and “business partner” of Charles Andrew Caldwell, the son of Admiral Sir Benjamin Caldwell (granted arms c. 1800), grandson of Charles Caldwell Esq. (b. 1707) of Dublin, Solicitor to the Customers, grandson of Andrew Caldwell, family said to descend from William Caldwell whose ancestors came from Scotland
10) Lieutenant General Sir James Lillyman Caldwell (1770-1863) of the Indian army and chief Engineer of the Madras Presidency, son of Major Arthur Caldwell (d. 1786), grandson of William Caldwell (1710-1802) of Londonderry, Northern Ireland

14) Framed watercolor owned by Mrs. W. B. Stevens, of Mt. Vernon St., Boston, whose grandfather, Ezra Palmer (q. v.), married Elizabeth Caldwell (born 1784) and then Susan Caldwell (1789-1852) of Ipswich, MA
15) John Caldwell of Glasgow, Scotland - thought to be the same John Caldwell who was a preceptor of Hutcheson’s Hospital in Glasgow in 1666 and it is quite likely that he was a merchant.

17) Gorg Calewell of London, merchant of Boston, MA, c. 1715 - likely self-assumed - Parti-crénelé de gueules et d'argent, à trois pattes d'ours arrachées de sable.
