Honestly this kid is really hard to judge. Talent is off the charts I do see mahomes in his game. It’s hard to tell if it’s the horrible line that’s causing him to run around so much or if that’s just how he wants to play. I really want him to succeed at the next level it will be fun to see how it all unfolds tho
@Big10footballjunkies6 ай бұрын
I had the same feelings. The one thing I struggle with is knowing if he can play within the scheme.

seems like most of the time the o line crumbles tbh. laitu latu had him running for his life in this game. 40% pass rush win rate.

His receivers are never open causing him to hold the ball.

how did the coach not change up the gameplans? oline couldn't block anyone! Caleb had to dance through half the team just to locate his receiver who was already running 40 yards downfield like an idiot

Before I watched every game of Caleb’s, I was super high on him. Now after watching a lot of his tape, I truly believe Jayden Daniel’s is the better qb.

What am i missing man. All i see are swing passes, curl routes, and breaking the pocket when he doesnt have to. And he missed a couple wide open recievers on rpos. The media machine is something

I do think when a QB has a bad OL, that can change their play clock and make them leave the pocket too soon as well. It makes me wonder if he can play with in the system or not though.

@@Big10footballjunkies isn't this the same thing theyre saying about fields. So they want a shorter slower version at number 1?
@Big10footballjunkies5 ай бұрын
@yrvanmichel1446 Fields problem is his processing. He creates most of his own sacks, can't read defenses and isn't super accurate. I was worried about all those things with Fields coming out.
@yrvanmichel14465 ай бұрын
@@Big10footballjunkies if you can process. You cant play at all. Zack wilson is an example of that. The problem is what that kid has been taught by the coaches he has had. You can tell how a coach is teaching on the first read cause that's where they want the ball to go. Many times in getsy's offense the first read wasn't the one that got open. Now when the qb has to reset. He looks like he doesn't know what's going on.

@@yrvanmichel1446 oh 100 percent. You just really don’t know how well these qbs tools will translate on the nfl field until they actually step on that nfl field. One thing we know for sure is that Caleb has elite tools, we just need to see if it will translate to the nfl level.

Think his abilities will be amplified in an NFL system
@Big10footballjunkies6 ай бұрын
I see it. His arm strength, being able to throw from different arm angles, escapability, and the creativity he has during a play. The one thing that concerns me a bit is how much can he play with in the system? He had to run around so much bc the line at USC was horrendous. It's not a big concern but it's there for me.
@knightdance83776 ай бұрын
The thing that amazes me about comments like this is you compare the KC Chiefs Mahomes to the Texas Tech Mahomes and its a completely different level of player. CW is still a prospect. People compare him to the Texas Tech Mahomes, which i'm certain you never watched
@Big10footballjunkies6 ай бұрын
@knightdance8377 it's just the way he plays. He has similar abilities, but that doesn't mean he will be even a quality starter in the NFL.

Let me say. He didn't have an o-line and any weapons. That being said if you're the number one pick all that doesn't matter. I would definitely not pick him 1 overall
@Big10footballjunkies6 ай бұрын
I get what you are saying but i will say the one thing almost no QB can survive without is an OL. The Bears seem like they are for sure trading Fields. Going off the likelihood that they trade him, who would you take? OR would you trade the pick?
@ricardorivera75494 ай бұрын
sounds like good old coach speak. so u see he has no oline and no wr and still say that doesnt matter? he has to block and catch the ball too himself for u to take him at 1? u sound ridiculous. kid has a rocket, outstanding pocket management considering the trash protection his oline gave him and has elite athletic tools and sound decision making.

If they can get him to play better it would set this franchise up for a long time. Trade back and still have 2 top 10 picks probably to go with at least 1 extra pick next year.
