I'll literally take you on as a client for free. Just as a thank you for all the help your channel has given me and everyone you've had on/everyone watching. My boyfriend showed me your channel and I immediately binged it, and thanks to you and other shows you've recommended, you've completely turned my boyfriend and I's financial goals and financial planning around and given us a direction, and whenever I read your comments I can see you doing the same for other people. About the importance of an emergency fund: I just wanna leave here how having one saved us yesterday. So my partner didn’t get his salary on Monday, and yesterday he was called in for an emergency meeting. In short: his workplace is bankrupt as of yesterday. He will get all the money he is owed eventually, but you know how that goes.. it can take weeks/months. In comes the emergency fund, so we can easily pay our bills and daily expenses without having to worry, and the minute the money that he’s owed comes in it goes right back into the emergency fund. Also has two possible new jobs lined up so it will all be fine. Can’t tell you enough how good it feels to have zero stress about this situation. Just put aside that emergency fund people.

I'm not a fan of the recent therapy side of things. These guests keep coming in like they're the victims of something outside of their control but more often than not it's their lack of self control. They're just making excuses because they want to do things that feel good NOW not later. Like his this guy said he was lonely, bro you're just horny get over it. Stop trying to date, stop trying to simp because if you can't at the very least get out of this crippling debt there aren't any good women who will want you. Only missed 1 payment ever and that was on my mastercard that I forgot to set autopay on, 16 years ago. Anyway, don't go crazy on them. To be fair, I did live off my credit cards until I found my first tech job. It was bad. But back in 2019, I worked aggressively to pay off the $15k myself in a few months. I get it. If you consider Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs, financial planning is further up into self-actualization, but without it, it becomes harder to meet the more essential needs like food, shelter, physical security etc. So it can become a struggle to dig yourself out of a hole when it feels like everything is going against you. One thing I think everyone should realize, we can't do it on our own. We have to help pull each other up, and we will all improve if we do.

A company that lets you go the same day you put in your 2 weeks notice is not a great company. Just saying. Maybe the people he worked with directly were great, but the higher ups certainly were not great. That being said... congrats to him for making so many big, positive life changes! He's really out there doing the hard work. Hate that he got himself into so much debt while doing part of it, but I think he's got this! Gonna come out glowing on the other end of it all!

This one is special to me because Mikey is like looking back through a portal in time as far as his background goes. I've been watching Caleb since maybe the fourth or fifth month of his channel & I think you're the first KCMO person on here! Mikey, if you see this: I'm from Kansas City, MO (born and raised - moved away at 27). I went to UMKC. I'm a Tableau Developer (but I've been doing that since 2010 & have spanned that into a career from KC, to the East Coast, to the West Coast helping companies start from square one & leading into consulting -- it's a lucrative skill set to have, sir). I also used to collect watches and coins - LOL!! On the not so light note, I've wrestled with student loans - like many - and dealt with my share of credit card and car debt. I say all of that to say you're young, and like Caleb said - you've shown that you can tighten things up and do what you need to do (through the weight loss -- congrats on that, man). You have the time and personality traits necessary to fix this (not to mention, your job choice should make this financially feasible for you). From a guy who's walked a startlingly similar path to you, based on some of the stuff you've shared on the show, "You've got this!". You're early on in things, but so long as you own responsibility for where you are and where you want to get to -- you can follow-through on the decisions you need to make for a better life. Rooting for you as a fellow Tableau Dev from KCMO. Don't know if there's a way to connect professionally (LinkedIn or something), but if so - happy to, sir. Might bump into you at a conference in the future - who knows?

Ofc it varies from state to local levels but in my opinion they aren’t funded enough, while we spend 10x as much on the military each year or bail out companies with 100s of billions of our tax dollars for dealing bad business.

"MAY 18, 2023 - Nationally, public school spending per student experienced the largest fiscal year-to-year increase since 2008, up 6.3% to $14,347, according to new data from the 2021 Annual Survey of School System Finances released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. This spending is up from $13,501 in FY 2020. Public school spending per pupil in the 50 states and the District of Columbia also increased for the 10th year in a row in fiscal year 2021. Elementary and secondary education revenue from all sources in FY 2021 totaled $810.0 billion, up 5.0% from the prior fiscal year. The Annual Survey of School System Finances provides data about public school spending - including per student (pre-K to grade 12) expenditures - debt and assets (cash and security holdings) for all states and the District of Columbia. Statistics are not adjusted for cost-of-living differences between geographic areas. Other highlights: The states that spent the most per pupil in FY 2021 were New York ($26,571); the District of Columbia ($24,535), which comprises a single urban district; Vermont ($23,586); Connecticut ($22,769); and New Jersey ($22,160). Those spending the least per pupil were Idaho ($9,053), Utah ($9,095), Arizona ($9,611), Mississippi ($10,170) and Florida ($10,401). Seven of the nine states in the Northeast region (Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont) were ranked among the top 10 in spending per pupil in FY 2021. Pennsylvania ranked 12th and Maine was ranked 13th. Of the 20 states with the lowest per pupil spending, 17 (Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah) were in the South or West regions. The remaining three were Missouri, South Dakota and Indiana. Of the 100 largest school systems by enrollment, the districts with the highest spending per pupil in FY 2021 were Boston City Schools in Massachusetts ($31,397), New York City School District in New York ($29,931), Washington Schools in District of Columbia ($24,535), Atlanta School District in Georgia ($18,492), Chicago School District in Illinois ($18,216), and Los Angeles Unified in California ($18,179)" I do agree that we should not be bailing out companies and shouldn't be funding the war machine...however, IMO, government run schools receive enough money but spend it poorly - maybe they should be evaluated by Caleb....

One thing I wish Caleb would say in these is what exactly being “caught up” on retirement means. How much does he need to be “caught up”?
@dylanyeley
@dylanyeley Жыл бұрын
It depends on how much money you spend that’s why he’s so vague. You need to be able to survive for a long ass time without anything coming in, even though in reality you should be investing in something with returns so that you can live later without working. 5 years no work worth of saving I’d say? Maybe more depending on how reliably you can make your own money without working.

Would you rather be face-to-face with Caleb Hammer or Dave Ramsey as you're revealing that you took out a consolidation loan only to build up the CC debt all over again?

This guy is solid. He understands what went wrong and is willing to learn from his mistakes. Huge congrats on losing the 60lbs. Anyone who can get it together to do that can also get it together to master their finances. Best of luck to this guy. He'll achieve his goals.

Dude, go buy a book called "12 Rules for Life" by Dr. Jordan Peterson. You are clearly in a place where you need to find a path forwards and between the book and some proper therapy and "friend-terventions" you will get there.

Personally opinion, if you want to start dating and your potential partner finds out you are paying for only fans chances are that relationship will die in the cradle.

Why would anyone pay for OF when there is so much free porn out there? OF content isn't even good quality.

It’s not about the sexual content, it’s about feeling like you get a connection from the girls on only fans…it’s artificial but that’s the psychology. It’s like how they find that guys who go to strip clubs regularly, most of them are actually seeking a woman to talk to and connect with more than the sex part of it.
@CountessRose

@@jasoncooper3924 fully understand that but if you want something real, supplementing with the artificial is only going to hurt in the long run.

Last couple of episodes have been harder to hear the guests. Trying to watch in the office everyday and I have to crank it up to hear them. Then Caleb's freak outs absolutely explode through my speakers. Wish audio was a little more balanced for those of us trying to multitask lol!

22:33 For Invicta watches, especially Quartz movements, they do not really appreciate in value. Even most lower end Swiss watches don't really appreciate in value unless they're limited runs. If you want watches that are actual investments to pass onto kin or accrue in value, you'll have to bust bank for brands like.. Rolex, Blancpain, Patek Phillipe, Brequet, etc. He's indulging. It's okay to indulge your wrist when you're not drowning yourself in debt.

Mental health is extremely important. I had a mental health breakdown about 6 years ago, I took me years to finally feel right. I don’t want to focus on how it took years, but it did because I ignored it for too long. The moment I was on the right meds and with the right therapist, my life got better. I ended up finding my purpose in life, which was very important to my mental health. For those of you struggling, just know that I care and don’t give up, with the right help your life can improve.
