Calgary (or Alberta as a whole). Salaries are higher. Only 5% tax on goods (a $1,549 iPhone Pro 13 Max will only cost you $1,626 after tax). Only 10% income tax for the first $131,220. Gas and housing are cheaper. Newcomers to Calgary are usually able to buy a house within 2 years (if they save for the DP of course) unlike in Montreal where renting/leasing an apartment is the norm even for longtime residents (July 1 in Montreal is dubbed as "moving day"). Groceries though are a bit expensive than in Montreal. Now compare that with Montreal (or Quebec as a whole) where salaries are lower, tax on goods is 15% (a $1,549 iPhone 13 Pro Max will cost you $1,781.35 after tax), income tax is 15% for the first $45,000 and if you earn more than that, your rate will be 20%. The advantage of Montreal is that there's more places to go (bars, museums, restaurants, etc.). If you love road tripping, you're only a few hours drive from New York, Boston, Toronto, Ottawa and other major cities in the eastern side. The roads are cleared right away after a snow storm. Groceries are cheaper and the public transpo system (subway, buses, etc.) is more efficient. The disadvantage of Calgary is that there's nowhere to go once you go out of the city. It's like a desert looking at the endless prairies and the flat terrain with no trees. Well of course there's Banff but that's just it. No major cities within driving distance (if you love visiting big cities). There's not much nightlife too even in the downtown core.
@Gillz342 жыл бұрын
Not true you can just drive to the west coast cities like Vancouver La Denver Las Vegas Salt Lake City lots of west coast cities and most ppl don’t drive long distance anyways. @acfs19822 жыл бұрын
@@Gillz34 the cities in the west coast that you mentioned are too far to drive from Calgary. Vancouver for example is already 11 hours. Whereas in Montreal, New York City is only 6 hours away. Toronto is just 5 hours. Boston is also just 5 hours.
