Two years ago 5 RCMP units pursued and smashed the truck of a woman and her son because they kept their gas station store open. Later that year they dragged a kid out of a farm tractor he was moving from one field to another, when they were done, he needed to go to hospital. Calgary police are just as brutal!

Few years ago in Red Deer the RCMP did a high speed chase on the main street going downtown and the teen driving the car hit a pole and died. They blamed the teen even though they are not supposed to do high speed chases in town during the day especially because it puts all the other citizens at risk and that's a very busy area all day everyday. RCMP is rogue across Canada.

Because they thought it was a stolen vehicle due to the licence plate and I don't know if you realize this, but usually people that steal cars don't voluntarily pull over and are often armed, and desperate to escape meaning they can do anything including run you over or shoot at you. It's the guys fault for not check his licence plate. I always check my vehicle whenever it's been parked for awhile to ensure 3 things: the tires are not deflated, there is no damage from other people hitting my car and running, and lastly, you guessed it, my licence plate is there.

Well, that is certainly ridiculous. If you and others are believing the police are to blame and that the police are bringing it on themselves in having people turn on them. When the police, through over-training or through cowardice, proceed to a high-risk takedown of a father and teen daughter encountered randomly in traffic, instead of a simple traffic stop to point out the "paperwork anomaly" as it basically was, they drive a larger wedge of fear and mistrust between themselves and the law-abiding population. At a time when they went full gestapo on the truckers, and when they are assaulting people protesting groomers, and escorting terrorist supporters on their marches of intimidation to disrupt Jewish citizens, trust is beginning to erode and maybe a few kgs of respect and concern should be extended from the officers to the likely 95/100 normal citizens they may terrify with this kind of procedure. Most people will calmly pull over when requested, and will cooperate and be happy with the officers for finding their plate has been stolen and replaced. Almost no one will be happy if pulled over for nothing, and at gunpoint.

@@foenix8094For every car with a potentially armed criminals there are likely 500 cars with innocent father daughter duos, not one for one. If your police cannot initiate and manage a simple traffic stop and handle any potential escalation then maybe they need to question how long their career lasts.
@vampfashions
@vampfashions Жыл бұрын
@@foenix8094 You seem to be missing the part where the father daughter were victims of property crime. In a case of switched plates, the victim is the one the police "attack", while the actual criminals are driving peacefully from crime to crime with the honest person's plate as cover. The police know this and still act without reasonable cause as if the person left holding the bag are the perps they so desire. It is a paperwork issue until they determine they are indeed the ones who stole the plate. After the traffic stop alerts the family, then the police can begin the vigorous search for the victim's plate and the actual criminals, and the public respect for police increases instead of evaporating. The police have the approach backward, whether through bad training or through fear and cowardice. Treat people like citizens and even the criminals will sometimes act like humans.

They're "trying to stop dangerous driving dangerous pursuits from taking place that might risk other users of the road and the public." Then stop trying and use that 20/20 hindsight. That’s hard to believe I commented like this is coming from my former police officer. It’s a stolen vehicle, driven by criminals as far as the police knew. What are they supposed to do when they find a vehicle, they believe has been stolen because of the plate? If you’re old enough to do the crime, you’re old enough to do the time. They didn’t know that it was a 15-year-old girl and even if it was, she shouldn’t have committed a crime. Everything got sorted out the way it should’ve. No harm no foul. People just wanting attention, and probably some money. And perhaps just taking to the media to spread a good message for everyone to check their plates before they get in their vehicle. As a professional driver, I always do a pre-trip walk around and check my plate as well.

The rest of your comment is pure, unadulterated nonsense. First off, what was it that caused the RCMP to run the plates in the first place and discover the vehicle might be stolen-do the RCMP, as a matter of combatting boredom, routinely run plates of vehicles not exhibiting any traffic violations, they happen to find themselves behind? 🤔 And secondly, why didn't they attempt a simple traffic stop first, before escalating to such measures? 🤔 If the traffic stop failed-i.e. the presumed ‘criminals’ attempted to flee-then you up the ante in your response measures, and you call for backup.

Shows how the aggressiveness of the cops in Canada are following their U.S.A. counterparts. Next they will shoot first and ask questions later. 35 years back I had the cop put the lights on me and pulled me over. He came up to the window and asked for the registration, my drivers licence then he checked the VIN of the vehicle. Its a little medal tag on the top of the dash, I didn't know that. He then politely explained that the plates did not match! Belonged to a stolen vehicle. Same thing as this person. Plates had been switched. At that point he collected the plates and advised me to go to the nearest office and get a new set.Stop probably took 15 minutes, no guns drawn, no spike belts, one cop only. It should have been the same in this case.

Yes! And it's a really good safety check too... are all 4 tires inflated, is there fluid leaking, did someone damage the car, leave something hanging off the passenger door, stick a derogatory sign on it, stick a rag in the gas tank, etc. I'm amazed ppl don't automatically do a check - it's how I was taught.

They were doing their jobs. When you drive in Alberta, or anywhere for that matter, you should expect this to happen. People can swap out your plate and you face something like this. Police don't know who's in the car. Could be armed gangsters. They're not going to take chances. My brother had his swapped a few years ago. He noticed right away and reported it stollen, and got a new plate. A few days later Police told him his plate was used on a car in Red Deer in a robbery. If he hadn't noticed, he could have found himself in the same situation, looking down the barrel of a dozen guns.

Thieves invariably leave a trail pointing away from themselves to someone else. Stolen plates. Stolen registration. Correspondence retrieved from garbage cans with someone else's name and address. Stolen get-away car. Etc. A grossly overused deception, but it always seems to work.

It was guns out because the police thought it was a stolen vehicle due to the licence plate. I don't know if you realize this, but usually people that steal cars don't voluntarily pull over and are often armed, and desperate to escape meaning they can do anything including run you over or shoot at you. It's the guys fault for not check his licence plate. I always check my vehicle whenever it's been parked for awhile to ensure 3 things: the tires are not deflated, there is no damage from other people hitting my car and running, and lastly, you guessed it, my licence plate is there.

@@cw9282 You don't know if a stolen plate will run until you turn on the lights. If you proceed with a high risk takedown based only on plate is reported stolen, then you are escalating beyond a reasonable standard. Especially when the police admit the numbers of these incidents is rising, they should proceed as if "humans" were involved as will be the case in at least 90% of cases. Then go all Rambo (if you absolutely must) when someone takes off.
