There are so many things could use updating. However, I'm not going to say Anything negative because the reality is, when someone purchases a boat like this, they're going to want their own modifications. A 24v boat isn't an easy sell around here, but to me a 24v boat is just ahead of its time. My two cents: Regardless of the things which do not appeal to everyone, this vessel is simply the Best balance of speed and comfort that exists, period. Any delivery skipper with time on a Van de Stadt is forever spoiled to disdain anything else. Did I mention safe? All Weather Safe. That is what matters most.

5 week delivery on a Gallant 53, 4 weeks aboard an Ocean 71; Nothing else compares. People put way too much emphasis on Speed. If your boat is an accessory, and you have to be back at work in 4 days, fine. But hurtling through the night at 17 knots, or almost plowing into a container that wasn't visible six minutes ago, is the Opposite of a relaxing passage. I'm not talking about Bill Hanna saying the VDS is "quick". Neither light air or beating into F7 will stop her. I feel for the people who think they want a speedboat just because that's what the people written up in the magazine have.Thank You just my opinion.

Don't get me going on "tailgates". How much time would one actually spend bonding with their kid sitting on the fold down transom if there's surge? If the generator's running? Just saying. That's all. (E.G.)VdS: Wholesome Passagemaker devoid of gimmicks.

My wife and I had a serious look. The standing rig is 20 years old , running rigging is tired , main sail is unusable , genoa has a couple of years of coastal sailing left in it ,so not quite shot. The Perkins M90 is at 4 K plus hours . Bottom paint is two years old. Never did get an answer on the age of the house batteries. As stated in the video the solar panels are dead and the electronics are dated...... At the right price and with a not insignificant investment of time and $$ it could be a great way for a couple to explore the world . Edit A new main sail has been now included but potential buyers should look carefully at the rest off the gear and systems, many of which are original to the boat. Fredb
