When I was a kid my dad and I, in his 1980 international scout, would head to red Rock canyon state park. From there we'd hit all the old mining roads. The one road I can remember was Last Chance Canyon. Your videos are wonderful to watch because they take place In a familiar place. Thank you!

I have explored most of there places you are doing videos on, and much much more. Thanks for the trip down memory dirt road (I'd say lane but that doesn't really apply). Thanks for some really well done videos. Keep up the great work.

You made me your subscriber after watching your San Andreas Fault Tour. It was your unique style of storytelling that I enjoy the most. Your videos are both informative and inspiring. Thank you and hope I will bump in to you on the trail one day. I am curious what type of editing software do you use especially for motion graphics. Keep traveling!

Your tour here is one of the best road maps ever. I'm curious about the point where you say "you'll need to get to this road here."
@BackRoadsWest14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your great feedback! I've been exploring the Calicos since the early 1980s. I've seen various roads degrade or disappear after various storm events. Some day, getting to Bismarck may even be close to impossible. But more likely, someone will re-build the road. When I mention "this road here", that is a major road coming in from Ft Irwin Rd, which has a low probability of degrading or washed out. So that's why you want to get to that road using whatever road is available at the time you go on your trip. There are numerous roads between Bismarck and the major road and may either disappear or get re-established (rebuilt). HTH!

@@BackRoadsWest1 Thanks again. I would still like to see that road that leads to that road on google earth of a drone. Thanks again. Happy trails.

Thank you! For navigation, we use Gaia GPS products. They work outstanding and the map data includes the most detail I've ever seen compared to all other maps I've used. Gaia GPS app discount codes: www.gaiagps.com/discounts/?fp_ref=backroadswest

Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, this is a great hobby: doing the research, travel, driving the roads, photography/videography, experiencing all the good eats along the way, post production, assembling the video, and finally, posting it to see what happens.

Another great video, thank you! Is it possible to drive these roads with 8 inches ground clearance and AWD?
@BackRoadsWest14 жыл бұрын
You'd have to use your best judgement. I've never driven such a vehicle on roads like that. You can easily damage a lower clearance vehicle. Some of the roads would probably be drivable for you.

While watching this video, I was wondering what if the trip started at the Fort Irwin’s pavement road.
@BackRoadsWest13 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can take this trip in either direction. We've started it a few times from Ft Irwin Rd - there's actually a lot of other stuff not mentioned in this video to see there.

Really great video. Would love to do this with my buddies soon. It’s a shame about the graffiti though smh
@BackRoadsWest14 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Don't let the graffiti bum you out! Sadly, anywhere 150 miles from L.A. typically is covered with the stuff.

@BackRoadsWest12 жыл бұрын
Yup. The whole area 100 miles from the millions of people of L.A. have increasingly been destroyed over the past 20 years. I saw what it looked like in the early 1980s and how it looks today. That's why I don't live there anymore.

@BackRoadsWest12 жыл бұрын
Yup, it is too bad. Most of the desert north of L.A. has succumbed to that. Thanks for commenting.
