Not as many flies around this nest at night! The North East Florida Eagle Livestream is full of them at night. Lucky nest to be able to sleep without the constant bugging of the bugs! 😄

This nest is located about 7000 feet up in the mountains. Nighttime temperatures are still around freezing in April. Insects are cold blooded animals and do not tolerate low temperatures that well

Our little nugget Spirit is not so little anymore! It’s really bittersweet to see him /her growing so fast. It was nice to see him/her come into the world from a tiny egg, and blossom into this smart, beautiful, sweet, lovable, funny juvenile. I will have mixed feelings when he/she fledges and goes out and makes a life for his/herself. I will however, remain very grateful that I was able to witness and share this beautiful and amazing experience, with Jackie, Shadow, and Spirit. Thank you Cali Condor, the rest of the Mods, Camera crew, and everyone at BB and Fobbv Cam that help make all this possible!❤️❤️❤️

I really appreciate your post Monica, I think it's a model of how to avoid being crushed when Spirit leaves. Your post, for me, allowed the release of *some* of the sadness I will feel when dear baby/not-baby Spirit enters into her inevitable independence from us, Jackie and Shadow. Thank you monica!

I’ve noticed that Spirit is very carefull whenever he/ she has to dismount from rails. It was dark so that’s why that happened. Very smart eaglet. I ❤️ Spirit.

I was actually awake and was watching the live cam when this happened, couldn't sleep, and I was pretty concerned when I first saw Spirit's wing start to fall, like a baby does when they are so tired in their high chair. I was hoping Spirit would swap with Jackie. Thanks for sharing Cali! Thanks to the camera operator and all the MOD's that help and all of FOBBV! 💖

Cali, thank you so much for giving us a little vision into the nest at night. How many of us would be watching the live cam at 3 am? Not I, for sure. So we really appreciate that you share these moments with us. Spirit must have been a little restless and wanted to practice perching on the rails. It's hard to remember that it is very dark in the nest because that IR only lights it up for us. So the oopsie moments and instability when stepping down were quite scary. Jackie seemed a little agitated by Spirit's nighttime exercises and I thought she might him/her down. How our children can test our patience, especially in the middle of the night. :)

Jacks was fed up with her kid for sure for a few moments. Then in the end, as with most kids, they just want their Momma. To me- it looked as if Spirit was startled by the pellet, like they're not used to it. Or is that just me?

Adorable! I love the ever-spirited Spirit🥰 Little one, NOBODY sleeps on the rails. Your mama stares at you when you the first time you Oopsie, trying to imbed that lesson into your brain. But nope. It's not incorporated into knowledge; Spirit 0opsies again. Maybe he's made that Harriet seemed to be paying attention to Spirit's egg-brother? Or maybe Spirit decided it's mom's fault she almost fell! Whatever triggered her crankinesz, Spirit, in the spirit of childrens' self-centered naughtiness, mini-attacks Queen Jackie. Bad decision Spirit, mom's not havin' it, now she's very irritated with you. She's been scanning the sky, probably telepathically telling Shafow to get over here and take charge of your naughty child!😁 I bet if Shadow heard her, he wisely decided to ignore his Lady's ire, heehee! In our soap opera, As The Nest Sways, Spirit then reverts to Baby Spirit, sqeezing a bit underneath and smooshed as close as possible to his mama for comfort and reassurance. Jackie, you've been nominated Saint Jackie. Spirit, you're a naughty girl, completely forgiven by your saintly mother. And Shadow, you're smart. 😅😂🤣 Thanks for sharing another episode of As The Nest Sways, Cali, you're Story Generous. ((BIG HUG))
