Pancaking is a term coined by nest watchers to describe an Eagle when it is lying very flat (in the bowl), resembling a pancake.
Jackie tends to do that a lot before egg-laying. It does seem like they are preparing for eggs, however it is uncertain whether they will have enough time to lay another clutch this year.
SoCal eagles are known to lay eggs as late as in late April, and so far Jackie and Shadow have been showing consistent nesting behavior: nesting materials, food gifts, pancaking and mating. We will patiently wait and see what they have in store for us.😊
