If you can't handle 107 seconds of Vivaldi's Spring; skip to 2:14 snowflake.
GREETINGS UNICORN CHASERS!
Here we have my extremely rare 2000 Cagiva Mito 125 two stroke sport bike.
Like an Aprilia RS125 except it's faster and prettier. Depending on who you ask; there were only 22-30 of these bikes ever imported into the US, and I think there's only 11 still on the road.
Let me start by saying that I LOVE this bike. It looks just like my Ducati 748, its quirky, its light, it handles incredibly well, gets a lot of attention from other bike nerds everywhere I go. I spent a very long time trying to find one of these, and was super excited when I finally got one.
The bike has low miles. Only around 5000 kilometers on the clock (about 3100 miles) I only fill it with premium fuel and race mix.
Just stuck a brand new set of tires on it on 5/4/2018. Metzler M7RR is my tire of choice because they have tons of grip, are fairly durable, abrasion resistant, heat up fast, and work well in the wet. Road racers look no further. But I still ride this bike occasionally, so expect those skins to be scrubbed in.
This cute little beastie may be an eye wateringly rare slice of two-stroke Italian exotica; but it has a few blemishes. I'm fairly confident that it's been dropped on its left side. There's a crack in the lower left fairing, a chunk missing from the top left tip of the upper fairing, some scratches on the tank, a missing indicator, and a wonky mirror (I've already installed brand new mirrors). Front brake feels a little squishy, but the bike seems to stop fine. I've been informed by other Mito owners that soft levers are pretty normal, and they all complain about lousy brake feedback. I was going to replace the master cylinder with an R6 unit, but never got around to it. I did replace the front and rear brake pads.
This Mito sat for a while with fuel in it, so I pulled the carb and cleaned it and flushed all of the old fuel and mix out of the tanks, and replaced the exhaust manifold gasket. It'll now cold start immediately without the choke, and will only smoke for about 45 seconds... which is wild for a two stroke. It's already been derestricted by a previous owner (you can see it on a blog called Bay Area Two Strokes) and he also replaced all of the coolant lines.
Is it fast? Not really.
Is it slow? No. Watch the video. It's not a fire breathing track weapon, but I wouldn't call it slow. It'll comfortably cruise at freeway speeds. You can get it up to 80 mph with very little effort, and I've had it just a hair over 100mph (it took a while to get there). But this bike is at it's best in the twisties. It's sssssooooooooooo nimble. It feels super rewarding when you nail those apexes at the base of the powerband and you feel that wave of momentum just catapult you into the next corner... I could gush about this all day. I. Love. This. Bike.
